Sandwiches, soups, salads, entrees to suit anyone. Restaurant is very nicely decorated and clean with exceptional service. Pies, cakes and pastries look fabulous and I had the key lime pie(small for two) which was excellent. Appetizers are generous for light eaters so don't need entrees as Max's known for generous portions-so took half home of the Thai Tenders. Don't miss... More

I have always have been a big fan of Max's Diners and even the original Opera Cafe in SF, but now that I've moved to Reno, it's too far. Max's has the best Patty Melt have ever had in my life! And believe you me, I have had a lot of Patty Melts in my day! So, when I found... More

We had our office party at Max's. Extremely satisfied with their accommodations! We had a banquet room, Max's set up a bar for us and a buffet dinner. The food was great, the selections were great. Very festive, decorations were nice. We had a band and dance floor with good Rock and Roll music. Max's provided free valet service. All... More

We had breakfast and the omelettes and corn flake french toast was out of this world. Best breakfast I have had in a long time. The service was a bit slow on the coffee, but well worth the wait for such great food. Nice simple menu. Dinners looked great too.

I didn't know what to think, if the food would be the same out here in Auburn. But the food here was just the same and wonderful. After reading that review about the Patty Melt, that is what I had to have! I was hoping for the same reaction! YES, that was one good patty melt! I went for the... More

This restaurant is adjacent to the Holiday Inn were I stayed with friends, so dinner in the restaurant was a no brainer to avoid drinking and driving. World Series game on, so the crowd was active and lots of warmth and fun, both with locals and travelers. Friendly service, full bar. I must say I had the biggest, fresh baked... More

This is where the old Marie Callender's was. It's convenient if you're staying at the Holiday Inn, but the food emphasizes convenience more than quality. Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. The decor is outdated, but the service was fine.

Max's is a full service restaurant, reasonably priced and just off the freeway (80) in Auburn, CA (exit Hwy 49). Rather than stay late in SF and have to drive in the dark on your way to Tahoe/Reno, leave early and stop here for dinner. You will find something for everybody on the menu. It happens that there is an... More
