Auburn has been the site of two horrific, traffic-jamming accidents that I know of. Fortunately, both were west-bound as I was going east. Today, they even landed a small helicopter on I-80. But I digress. Old Town Auburn is a great tourist trap with many good restaurants that do not disappoint. My favorite is the Auburn Ale House, a micro... More

pretty easy to find a place that brews good beer. pretty easy to find a place that serves good food. hard to find a place that does both. prices are in the middle for a better than average brew pub, good value.

Stopped by for dinner after golfing at the Ridge GC. Got seated right away. Drinks on their way and menus in hand. One of their specials for the day was a Yellow Tail Tuna. I went for it. Not thinking about the fact that I have never had Yellow Tail that was any good except at a sushi place. I... More

Located in a Historic Building the Heart of "Old Town" Auburn, this is a great place for locals as well as travelers passing through on I-80, just two blocks away. My favorites are the Shanghai Stout and Old Town Brown......combine that with their Pulled Pork Sandwich, and I'm a Happy Camper! The only drawback is it is NOISY......so don't plan... More

try the deep fried pickles and beer. Bar is loud and the people are friendly. If you are from around the area you will always know someone.

We discovered this place a couple of months ago, on the way to Reno to visit a childhood friend. Downtown Auburn is charming and parking has been easy. We have stopped for lunch, to and from, several times. This is our go to place. We always sit at the bar and have great conversations with the bar tenders. Fantastic burgers,... More

We were driving from Lake Tahoe to Sacramento and I just happened to catch a billboard advertising the brewery. Thank heavens it was time for lunch and a beer so we located it. What a find! It is in the heart of old town, and perfect in both atmosphere and ambiance. Great service, outstanding beer, beautifully presented in a round... More

We had an early dinner here on a Saturday evening. We were seated right away and had an excellent waitress. The kids meals were above average and nicely plated. Hubby and I both had the clam chowder (excellent with a little kick) and salads. Fresh ingredients with good dressing. If your going later than us (we were out by 6:30pm)... More

Whenever I pass through Auburn, I try to stop at the ale house. Excellent for lunch, snacks, or just a pint of their wonderful beer. In the heart of Old Town Auburn. Love it!

My husband, friend and I stopped here on the way to Folsom from Reno. My husband's friend suggested we meet him there since he lives in Auburn and it's his go-to restaurant. We popped in for dinner on a Friday night. We parked next to the restaurant which requires a ticket from the parking meter. The parking meter box was... More
