We eat here at least twice a month. I love the fish tacos and their fiesta chicken salad. Their standard fare is always tastey, if you are really hungry try the El Compadre burrito. .. wet!

El Compadre has some of the better Mexican food in northern San Luis Obispo County. The traditional Mexican tacos are good, which consist of two small corn tortillas with whatever meat, chicken or seafood one desires. I like the shrimp Diablo (spicy shrimp.) My son who is a burrito aficionado likes their burritos. There are a variety of choices of... More

Pretty good, make guacamole at the table. Had the spicy shrimp diablo and enjoyed. Staff friendly. Pretty busy place, near movie theater so I am sure it is packed before and after showings. Would go back, Decent value for money, not great.

I had high expectations based on the reviews I read, but although the staff was friendly, there weren't enough of them. Tables and floor were dirty and the food was okay, but not memorable.

Service was with a smile. Food was not piping hot. It was ok. BUT.... it took 25 minutes to get a fried ice cream. Does it really take that long? Very disappointed about that but waited since it was for my granddaughter. Will probably not go there again.

I was looking for a Chile Verde Burrito and I got one that fit the bill. The woman suggested that I try the "wet" burrito, and I took her advice. It came with a side of guacamole and sour cream. The meal was delicious and filling. I can see why this place is so highly rated. The food is very... More

What a great little Mexican place in Atascadero! We love El Compadre! Great authentic Mexican food, friendly people. The restaurant is a bit shambly (some new paint would do wonders!)--but no worries as El Compadre's food makes up for the atmosphere. If you only have $6 to spend for lunch, you can get an entire plate of food that keeps... More
