The restaurant is small but cozy. My husband really liked the fish of the day tacos. I had the shrimp fajitas for one but I probably would have been happy with tacos because it had too much of the onions and not much of the shrimp. The rice was good but it looked a little dry. Service was excellent!

Great food and good people! This is our go to stop for Mexican in the Arnold area. I have lived up here all my life and this is by far the best Mexican restaurant we have ever had here.

These people have the best chips and salsa, traditional salsa and cabbage salsa. You can dine inside or on the patio outside. The food and the staff are very good. Prices are very reasonable

Better than expected. We are Mexican food lovers - my husband is hispanic and grew up on it - so very particular. We were surprised to find the food so good. Highly recommend.

We stopped at El Vaquero after visiting the nearby Calaveras Big Trees State Park. It was a Saturday night (summertime) and this restaurant was extremely busy from when we arrived about 7pm until we left at 8:30pm. Everyone on the staff was very nice, from the person who seated us, to our server Monica, to the bus-people who helped in... More

We ended up eating here more than anywhere else the week we stayed there. The menu was diverse and the food was good. The staff was awesome and friendly.

We had dinner there after a long absence and some lingering questions about the service and food. However, once we arrived, greeted and seated, we were immediately served with chips and salsa and an order for drinks taken. Both of our meals were well prepared, delicious and plentiful. The only comment was that they were a little light on zest... More

We enjoyed dinner at El Vaquero last night with a Mexican friend, and no doubt it is Authentic! The tortilla soup was perfectly picante and delicious. Our friend had the shrimp….rice, beans and salad, oh yum! and Don Memo….his regular chile rellenos and enchiladas. Really good and fast service, but nice chips and salsas while we waited… They also serve... More

My wife and I along with another dined here for the first time. The place was clean as were the restrooms. The menu contained all of the normal Mexican dishes and typical cuisine. The fish tacos were great. The rice and beans were light and fresh. Our friends had a chicken burrito and a wet carne asada burrito. Both were... More
