What a nice surprise

We were very nicely surprised by the freshness of ingredients, quality of food, gracious service, and lovely atmosphere of this restaurant. We were visiting our son at Humboldt State and, having had a complete breakfast and plentiful lunch, could not really find space for a complete dinner. Still... read more

Lots of creativity and appealing ideas on the menu. But the prices on the mains were really too much, so we settled on pizza. Both came burned around the outside and on parts of the top. Rather skimpy with toppings - brie on the salami/brie/jam pizza was almost undetectable. Service: once she took the order and brought the food, our... More

We were only in town for two nights. The first night we ate on the run. The second we wanted to try something unique to the area. Found Folie Douce on TripAdvisor and other sites - it came so highly recommended that we just had to check it out for ourselves. Menu and specials were unique combinations of foods and... More

Based on reviews here we decided to give Folie Douce a try and we are glad we did. This is a very small place and I would suggest reservations as it appears very popular. The decore is funky which adds to its charm. It reminded me od some resturants we have eaten in New Zealand. .The staff was attentive and... More

My brother and I ate here and had an absolutely wonderful meal. The oysters were absolutely amazing and so were the seared scallops as appetizers. We shared the mushroom, gruyere, and onion pizza. It was so wonderfully balanced with sweet, and savory. I can't recommend them highly enough. The service was outstanding, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

Do not miss this restaurant when in town. Every time we visit our daughter at HSU we always make a point to have dinner there. The pizza is awesome and the menu continues to delight us each time. Always make sure you ask them to pair your dinner with local wines. You will not be disappointed.

Folie Douce offers up the most exquisitely good (and unique) food in Humboldt County. The menu changes with the seasons and what the local farmers have on offer, so its difficult to recommend any single dish, but everything I've ever had here in my several visits has been delicious. A few dishes to watch for are their shrimp and basil... More

We ate at Folie Douce in July 2007 and am planning to return in August 2008 as a result of another trip to the area. Well prepared food and pleasant ambience. Another good choice is Abruzzi's ,obviously Italian and not inexpensive but good quality and service.

This restaurant is a gem in Arcata, my dinner here was the highlight of my visit to this small town. I was a little hesitant since I'm a vegetarian and the sole vegetarian entree was called "vegetarian special" with no details, but I took a leap of faith and I'm really glad I did. The food was well prepared with... More
