Best restaurant in Arcata

When people are seeking an Arcata restaurant recommendation this is my first choice if costs are not an issue, not that it is prohibitively expensive as meals seem to run from low $20's to mid $30's. The food is always excellent and menu is diverse enough, accompanied by appealing specials. The... read more

The restaurant has a nice ambience, overall food is very good. Nice, simple salad. The steak tip pizza was awesome. The ribeye meal was pretty good, sort of eh for the cost though. Overall had a really nice meal here.

Five of us all ordered from the prix fixe menu which had four options and we were all satisfied from the starter to the dessert. This is a small intimate restaurant in which the owner is hands-on. The menu reflects current market fresh ingredients and creative recipes. The wine list included some nice affordable California wines. All of us thoroughly... More

This is a quality restaurant stuck among other establishments catering to the inhabitants of a college town. The place is unassuming, the food and service are astonishing. The reception by the staff is attentive. Then, the menu gives you your first impression that the place is not average. Mouth watering entrees and a wine list that stands out even anywhere... More

Everything fresh and delicious. The salmon chowder was fantastic! Our server Jake very knowledgable and answered many questions as my husband has many food allergies. He was patient and wonderful. Only the best ingredients, home made ice cream!. I will need to come back to try out the pizza ( looked great)! Great cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We've been going to Folie Douce for over 12 years. Sept. 9th, we decided to make our 32 Anniversary special and made reservations for 6pm. We were 8 minutes late but by the time we were helped, we were 15 minutes past our reservation time. The hostess/owner told us she gave our table away!!!! She did not call us either.... More

Year in and year out, Folie Douce has been our answer to the question of where to go on a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary. This is not bargain country -- go for the great flavors, creative menu items, and intimate atmosphere. If its a bargain you want, then go to Rita's. Our last visit was no exception.... More

Another restaurant that wants to be gourmet but the food isn't nearly that caliber. Serving sizes are too small and prices are too high given those sizes. I ordered a pizza, which is actually plenty big enough for one person but not nearly enough for two.

Beautiful aromas greet you at Folie Douce, even before you walk in the door. We found the staff to be attentive and friendly, and the menu quite varied. I had the catch of the day, which if I recall was a rock cod, and it was served with very tasty, nicely al dente vegetables and a "garnish" of mussels steamed... More
