My girlfriend took me to The Other Place for a birthday dinner tonight. I took 2 steps out the door and could not wait to write my first ever restaurant review! I'm a chef and have tasted many fantastic meals, but the food, service and atmosphere this evening left me absolutely stunned and amazed. The atmosphere was a fun and... More

From the moment I arrived, I was delighted. The atmosphere is like no other, elegance combined with welcoming comfort. The service outstanding, thoughtful, and friendly. The food! The food, I will never forget. Each item unique. Perfect balances of flavors that repeatedly complement each other. It is a place of true love and passion for what they do... I'm just... More

The atmosphere and wait staff are very inviting. The menu is sourced with local produce, meats, and fish. Friendly and knowledgeable staff made exploring rhe interesting menu choices fun. Wonderful presentation and layered taste treats. The lamb, salmon, and pork were excellent

In this little town a French Culinary Institute trained chef has brought big city dinning to a small college town. Dinner for 2 with wine, $172.00. Worth every penny. Here is excellent preparation and presentation. A great resource for the chef is the exceptional fresh vegetables locally grown. Do not miss this spot.

priced significantly higher than the best restos in the area, not nearly as good. go to Folie Douce and pay less for much better food. this is probably not in the top 5 in Arcata, but it's easily #1 in price.

Pretty pricy for small amounts. We like that it is organic and locally grown. Our experience was good the first time and not ok the 2nd time so we will not be going back. Don't want to go into detail, but as far as high end expensive food, we prefer Folie Douce in Arcata next to Jaffy's Soup Kitchen or... More

Well-prepared dishes using mostly fresh, local ingredients and great flavor combinations. Fine gourmet cuisine, which is not easy to find in this area! Unique, colorful decor which reminded me of a circus (not exactly elegant, but not offensive and very clean). Good service. The food is what makes this restaurant shine!

Very knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff without being intrusive. The food is interesting and good. We enjoyed fresh cream of mushroom soup made from local mushrooms. The pork cubes were delicious. The wine list is very nice. Certainly not a bargain for food or wine - more of a special night out kind of place.

First, the food - the menu reflects the best locally sourced ingredients from the small surrounding farms. It's clear that chef/owner, Luke, knows his food and creates combinations that are unique, fun and not weird in any trendy way. Next, the service - again, Luke's attention is evident. His waitstaff is attentive without imposing, and they are so upbeat! The... More

Inventive and delicious food in an eclectic, off the the main street, restaurant. The pork was great as was the very fresh fish. Clearly well worth going out of your way to visit.
