Best sushi in Arcata

Affordable sushi in Arcata. Fresh seafood, fast service, good presentation. The seaweed salad is always good and I especially like their miso soup. I like most of the house special rolls and they have good green tea mochi for dessert. The place is small and I always wonder why they don't get a... read more

When did cream cheese become a staple in sushi restaurants? Humboldt county has by far the cheesiest sushi. The cheap elevator music in this place was blasting Kenny G-like and the waitresses looked like they were hosting a garage sale. The sushi that wasn't imitation crab was drab and lifeless. The rolls were so teeny it looked like they were... More

How disappointing and cheesy! The prices are high enough for real crab (especially in crab season here!) and real tea. The best I can say for this place is that is is away from the hubbub of the Arcata Plaza area and nice and quiet. The portions are not especially generous and the atmosphere is unremarkable. Arcata has several sushi... More

Tucked away near Humboldt State University is a great little sushi restaurant. Our favorite is "Firecracker" but I've never been disappointed by the sashimi plate either. I've been to Japan a couple of times and this isn't far from that experience.

Never thought the sushi is that good! Finally went there, and then was surprised! Really nice sushi, owner was so sweet and offered us free miso soup! I mean, if you like some valuable sushi just for your sushi mood and you don't want to go by downtown Arcata to sushi spot/tomo, this is the place you can come and... More

I normally don't like to comment on food places because when it comes to comfort foods, everyone has their own individual flavor. But I can honestly say that this place wasn't bad at all. The service was friendly and welcoming. Not over the top, but efficient and attentive. The vegetable tempura I ordered could use a better batter, but the... More

Good sushi although the rolls were a little small for the price. Tried 5 rolls; 2 traditional tekka rolls and 3 house rolls. Not a lot of variation but fresh, quality ingredients.

This small establishment packs quite a punch. First I will say the service is 5 star. The decor is awesome and a gallery in itself. Beautuful japanese sushi style mosaics line the walls. The sushi is delicious!!! Its mostly a wide variety of super fresh specialty rolls but you can get soups, sunomonos, chicken and beef dishes, desserts... And more.... More

This is our family favorite Sushi Restaurant in Humboldt and around the US. The Sushi is excellent, always fresh with excellent choices of rolls and combinations. Great noodle bowls and seaweed salads. All the traditional Japanese favorites. The Owner is usually there and spoils us with fried bananas and chocolate ;-) Service is always outstanding and the price is affordable.... More

I have not had much experience with eating Japanese food, but we all enjoyed our meal here. The various sushi dishes, and the miso soup was tasty, the price was very reasonable, and we also tried the seaweed salad. the waitress was very attentive, also. We were full at the end, but didn't feel bloated, which so often happens with... More
