I visited Cafe Sparrow for lunch recently with three other diners. Two of us are vegetarian and there were ample options for us to choose from. The meals were excellent with a beautiful presentation. I had the heirloom tomato salad with polenta which was exquisite. The wine list had good choices and the country French decor is charming. The only... More

A perfect lunch spot if you like French country decor, Edith Piaf in the background, friendly waitstaff, and fantastically fresh salads. We had heirloom tomatoes and cherry tomatoes with goat cheese, chicken, and lovely greens with balsamic vinaigrette: perfect! The wine list was ample and affordable. Do try the Santa Cruz coffee: flavorful and delicious.

My favorite restaurant for special occasions - and I do live in Santa Cruz, which has a very vibrant restaurant scene. The place is small, you should make reservations, there are nightlhy 3 course specials well worth a try. The chef is known to visit every table to talk about food, life and friendship but best of all, we NEVER... More

Walking in (a party of 4) without reservations, we thought we might experience a wait. However, a "reservation" had not shown so we were immediately seated in this little jewel of a restaurant. (NOTE: DO make reservations unless you don't mind sitting for a while on the outside bench!) Although I have enjoyed lunch at "Sparrow" many times, I had... More

The menu is limited but everything is cooked to perfection. We especially like the nightly specials....

This is a true story and a study in human behavior, a real slice of life: The Review Overpriced, overrated, slow service, good food..... Arrogant and incredibly rude owners. Made 5:30 reservation. Arrived promptly. Appetizers and drinks arrived in a timely manner. Appetizer was roasted garlic which was good. My Petite Caesar salad was drenched in dressing, but still tasty.... More

I came here with my friend for nice lunch. We had to wait for over an hour for our food. The restaurant was empty. When we complained, the hostess yelled at us that they were not a fast food place. We could barely eat our food after that and our drinks were not re-filled and we were not given a... More

This is one of my favorite go-to restaurants that remains special. There are two main seating areas - the smaller, more intimate one is very romantic or even girly with a fabric covered ceiling, cushy banquet seating and large bunches of dried lavender spilling out of baskets on the wall.. There's a view into the kitchen, but unlike other restaurancts... More
