Four of us went for dinner - we had made reservations for six o'clock. The initial disappointing thing that happened was discovering a $30 corkage fee per bottle - really heavy handed, we thought. The next thing that happened is we were still waiting for our entree at seven thirty. When we questioned the long wait time our table was... More

We have eaten at Bittersweet Bistro several times and never been disappointed. However, we stopped by for a late lunch and were left scratching our heads at the disjointed service and also by the food (surprise). I ordered the Cobb Salad and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich. When the salad arrive I was really surprised at how plain... More

We went for my birthday and my has been made reservations for inside. There was hardly anybody inside, they were all out on their lovely patio. We soon found out that there are specials out on the patio that are not inside. The food came and it was good. However I did not feel that it was worth the very... More

This is a consistently great place to eat. Nice to have small plate choices & nightly specials. Had petrale sole with capers- perfectly cooked, nice veggies al dente & yummy potatoes au gratin. Small plate was perfect for me. Others had mushroom pasta , very good & mahi mahi. Try to save room for desserts. Fabulous. Great bar & drinks.... More

First of all I love parking under the redwood trees lit with tiny sparkly lights. You can eat outside by a fire or from choose three entirely different venues inside: the friendly, noisy bar, the quiet (during the week) lounge or the formal dining room. Recession busters are a great deal and are plenty of food. Ask for the complimentary... More

Bittersweet has been found their recession busters for several years now and as a local I really appreciate it. The value of course is there if one sticks to the special for the night! Food is consistently nice fare. Outside seating is wonderful if weather permits. Otherwise the special menu is only in the bar which is very crowded and... More

Lovely Eggs Benedict for brunch two weeks ago on the patio with dogs under every table. The Saint Bernard at the next table had his own doggy dinner while his owner ate. Delicious pulled pork sandwich last week for lunch while my dog lapped at her freshly-filled water bowl. Very attentive service during the week but because the place gets... More

We've visited Bittersweet since it's beginnings on the West Side of Santa Cruz thru its move to Aptos. The food is great and to be honest we love the bar menu and atmosphere on the court yard during summer (and especially September and October when we get to reclaim our area from all the tourists). Good wines by the glass... More

Went for dinner.............greeted warmly and seated outside.Along with the two legged diners, we noticed some four legged ones enjoying their own meals. Waiters brought doggie dishes of food and water to hungry patrons. Good selection of wines for the two legged patrons along with a good menu. Service attentive and informative about specials, size of meals etc. Settled on a vegetarian... More

My family and I always make it a point to find the best breakfast wherever we vacation. We tried several restaurants in the area but Cafe Bittersweet was the best!! Great coffee, great food, good service. It is rare to find new breakfast items but they have something called an Au Gratin Scramble - WOW, what a treat!! I loved... More
