Didn't really enjoy the noisey young crowd. Also it is very crowded both inside and out. It was very difficult to carry on a normal conversation due to the nosise level.
We were unaware that we were dining on Taco Tuesday, until we were seated. It was a nice surprise as tacos were $2.50 to $3 each and there were also $5 dollar Mojitos. Our Tacos included the Duck with guacomole and arbol salsa (absolutely delicious) Fish with Coriander aioli and radish slaw, and something new to us, Pooc Chuc Taco... More
Everything we ordered was delicious and interesting--tuna tartare, golden and red beet salad, duck and fish tacos, rack of lamb, warm chocolate cake. Tip: get there early or there may be a wait
Fonda has a good drinks list, and some interesting non-alcoholic drinks as well. The tapas are latin-inflected. Service is friendly. I have seen people with children here, but prefer to go for an adult evening, myself. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food -- the fish has been very fresh, and the vegetables are fantastic. Good dishes... More
Cute place with an upstairs and downstairs. Sit upstairs if you want to be able to have a conversation with your dinner guests. Downstairs is the open kitchen and bar area, hard surfaces make for a loud room. Staff is efficient and friendly. Drinks are good. Excellent margarita. The food should not be ordered all at once. Pace what you want... More
We have loved Fonda for years for its great, friendly service and excellent food and cocktails. The atmosphere is always fun and relaxed. I was shocked to go in yesterday with another couple and find that the upholstered benches downstairs are stained and split, with the stuffing exposed and spilling out. I mentioned it to a server who said Fonda... More
We hadn't been here in a few years and were pleased to find the food was still great and the service even better. Lot's of people come to Fonda for "the scene" -great for the young crowd. We find that scene too noisy so we come earlier in the evening to enjoy the food and wine and each other.
It is always interesting to try a variety of tapas; you can get a 'taste' of a variety of foods, prepared very well, which allows you to try a number of items. The fish tacos were exceptional. the service was perfect for us, as we had a lot to discuss, and the wait staff allowed us to take our time... More
Nice day for their good food, good location and setting. Portions are very "little plates"--- but so well done you don't mind. We have been there late or early, and the quality does not falter. Fun for parties too----as we just left, many were coming in.
The best place to "hang" outside on a warm Sunday afternoon or upstairs for a late night . The Margaritas are excellent, as our the tapas. An overall enjoyable experience but expect to pay the price for it.The servings are generous for a tapas bar and the food (especially the carne) are really delicious. Unfortunately the self-indulgent, tiresome hipsters, make... More
