They were not ready for the large group!

We brought a fairly large group, with reservations, but the serving times were so scattered that no one could eat at the same time and have hot food. Food was good, margaritas ok.

I've given this place serval trys because I want to like it, but I just can't... The last time I ate here would be my last! After a few so-so meals here, my friends and I gave it one last chance. The service was so slow! I believe it was a fight night, and they were definitely understaffed, which isn't... More

We were staying across the street at Hawthorn Suites and were looking for dinner close by. It was not as expensive as the ratings said: our bill for 3 came to $49 which included 2 margaritas and a coffee. Chicken chimichanga, chile relleno combo, and beef tostada were all excellent and came with plenty of guacamole and sour cream. Chips... More

Every time I'm in Alameda I stop to have their Chicken soup. A meal in itself. There's at least on full chicken breast of meat per bowl with hearty veggies as well

I spent many years eating at the Oakland location and was a steady patron of the old Mexicali Rose that Otaez stands on today. That being said, this menu is the same as the one in Oakland and it is every bit as good as the original. Whenever I need a south of the border fix this is my go... More

We eat here every week - or take food to go - sometimes several times a week. GREAT service, personable staff that remembers your name and the last time you came in, good food, and a real comfortable place to eat, This is where you go instead of cooking at home. Your everyday restaurant.

Because of some positive reviews of the Otaez Restaurant, as well as the fact that we were staying across the street from it, we lunched at this wonderful Mexican restaurant one afternoon. The wall murals are really amazing and fun to look at. The food was delicious. I ordered a shredded beef enchilada which came with beans and rice which... More

Excellent food and service. I recommend the burrito famoso and the fajitas and of course a margarita to wash it all down. Prices are great value for money.

We'd just visited the Pacific Pinball Museum and wanted some dinner before returning to our hotel. We wandered down the street, saw Otaez and decided to give it a try. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Decor was pleasant, service was great, overall 'perfecto'. We especially enjoyed the guacamole and tamales. Hubby loved the rice and chips--worth a... More
