Because of some positive reviews of the Otaez Restaurant, as well as the fact that we were staying across the street from it, we lunched at this wonderful Mexican restaurant one afternoon. The wall murals are really amazing and fun to look at. The food was delicious. I ordered a shredded beef enchilada which came with beans and rice which... More

Excellent food and service. I recommend the burrito famoso and the fajitas and of course a margarita to wash it all down. Prices are great value for money.

We'd just visited the Pacific Pinball Museum and wanted some dinner before returning to our hotel. We wandered down the street, saw Otaez and decided to give it a try. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Decor was pleasant, service was great, overall 'perfecto'. We especially enjoyed the guacamole and tamales. Hubby loved the rice and chips--worth a... More

OK... ran into some luck... Hard to find good Mexican food in the bay area for some reason, I don't know why. But I stumbled upon this place and boy was I glad I did. First off, it was happy hour so the prices were right. I didn't order off the happy hour menu because I was really hungry. I... More

Went for lunch. Sat in the bar, took forever to get order taken....even longer to get the food served. Not sure what the problem was but I was served and was almost finished by the time my husbands food came. He ordered the pastor torts...said it tasted horrible. Too many other good mexican restaurants in town. Will not be going... More

I was impressed. When Otaez first opened a few years ago i tried it out and wasn't happy. They've improved 500%. Enchilada with grilled chicken was cooked perfectly and the chicken -- all white meat and grilled (ask specifically for grilled chicken) -- was perfect. Kid ordered rice and bean burrito. It was good but cold have been hotter. Chips... More

After reading some of the other reviews, I wasn't sure about making a reservation, but I am glad that I did. I found the food to be good and the service good as well. The food is more authentic Mexican food, not tex-mex style. I love both Mexican and tex-mex food and this is good authentic Mexican; not a Chi-Chi's... More

This is the Boston Market of the Mexican restaurants, in that EVERYTHING on the menu tastes like chicken. If you like chicken, that's great. for vegetarians, this place is a nightmare. The chips are ok, the sauce is bland, the rice is terrible, and the selection is uninspired.

Our niece lives in Alameda and we visit at least once a year. We love Otaez, the nachos are delicious and the margaritas awesome! Great place to catch the A's and Giants baseball games. We eat here on every visit!
