Diner food with Americana Atmosphere

Jim's is not the place for a diet!! The portions are LARGE and hearty, just like an old fashioned diner. We love the omelets, pancakes and scrambles. My 95 year old Dad prefers scrambled eggs with hash browns and ham !! The lunches are great as well, we love the burgers and the California Club... read more

This coffee house diner has been a long standing favorite in Alameda. Run by Greeks it oozes with warmth and a family atmosphere. The parking is not the greatest but once you make your inside I promise you will be glad you came. I have been coming to this place for nearly 50 years...Please try it out.

This is a good place to take the kids for dinner if you're looking for fast not fancy. Expect a traditional family menu.

I have been a regular at Jim's as he makes the best breakfasts (all day) with fresh cut hash browns, the tastiest sausage or thick (really thick!) sliced bacon. There is a bottomless coffee cup policy - the coffee is rich & yummy, no matter what you add: cream & sugar like I do. I don't have to ask for... More

The wait staff are so very helpful, kind, mostly on top of things, great corned beef hash, eggs, serving sizes, coffee carafes (unlike Nordstrom's Cafe Bistro where wait staff are nice but, hard to get coffee refills from, $14 charge for coffee carafe without informing of cost, even though I'd asked for carafe as free refill for us, to be... Take a trip back in time when you enter the 50's style diner. Very nice waitress and hostess catered to our larger group. Food was quick and piping hot. The biscuits and gravy ROCKS. Huge portions of biscuits covered with eggs and gravy, and the rest of the oversized plate filled with hash browns. This is one breakfast stop not... More

Everything was delicious and cooked just as we had asked: medium rare steak, crisp bacon and hashbrowns, thin pancakes. Wonderful mushroom and cheese omelet.

Jim's is tucked in next to Goodwill in Alemeda...with no open booths at a busy lunch time, we sat at the counter. Counter stools a bit wobbly, but comfortable. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. My husband choose a hamburger steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, and steam broccoli...he was very pleased as everything was very flavorful and... More

You would never know how big the place is from the outside. Parking can be kinda tight at times but they do have a lot around the back. Food was okay but nothing to write home about. It a nice community diner.

Jim's is a great place to go for "comfort food". Great selection of breakfast and lunch items with good size portions. The only thing that is "just ok" is their coffee. Although I don't find many "diners" with good coffee. You can get a "specialty" coffee there which are better but just don't expect great coffee.
