Great German Food with gluten free options

Being gluten sensitive we have been wanting to try this restaurant since it appeared in one of our GF apps. We each had the bratwurst with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. The food was excellent and came out hot. The yellow mustard did catch me by surprise as it was spicy hot! But a good horseradish... read more

With few German restaurants in the Bay Area, we are always interested in trying any local ones we hear of. The word from family members was that it wasn't very good, yet we couldn't resist the urge to see for ourselves. Arriving on a weeknight, we were seated right away. The bar was busy and it appeared that many customers... More

Stopped in for lunch with kids and German grandparents. All loved it. Great atmosphere, friendly service, good food. Strudel for dessert. All good!

Had a large group at Speisekammer last night without a hitch. Lots of activity and it was a busy night in the restaurant and all was well. All orders correct and all of the dinners were served within moments of each other and everything was cooked to perfection. I often dine out with a crowd and orders can easily get... More

German food is not my favorite, but this was nice after a long day. Quick service, pleasant staff and a homey atmosphere.

The Pork Sandwich was delicious, and there are few other places where you can get a Früh Kölsch on tap in NorCal. The cozy atmosphere makes this a fun place to dine and hang with friends.

We visited Speisekammer just after the new year as a party of six. My wife and I had just spend six months in Europe, with a month or so in Germany, a country we've visited many times. Our travels have convinced us that it is difficult to find a place here in America that truly duplicates the feel and flavor... More

We go here at least once a month. Love the red cabbage, the potatoes pancakes and the sausage.... The creamy spätzle baked with caramelized onions (their version of mac and cheese is to die for - with the bacon).

SPIESEKAMMER is a German restaurant located on Alameda Island, CA. The cuisine at Spiesekammer is authentic, and management does not try to cut corners by Americanizing the cuisine. Speisekammer is one of the few cultural attractions, and perhaps the only excellent restaurant, on Alameda Island. The fact that Alameda Island has been a navy town for so many decades, likely... I love German food and I have been to the two German restaurants I know about in SF a number of times. At those establishments the food is great tasting and the flavors are complex even though the dishes are straight forward. The food at Speisekammer, on the other hand, was disappointing. It tasted off -- I don't know if... More
