American Oak specializes in cocktails. They are truly great, so plan on having at least one. Next, make sure you visit on Sunday, as that is the only day they prepare the slow-cooked dry-rub ribs, bbq sauce on the side. Can't tell you how wonderful these ribs are--you just have to experience them yourself. Same goes for their fabulous mac&... More

I really like American Oak. Every salad, side dish, and main I have had here has been DELICIOUS. Last week I had a perfectly seasoned rib eye steak, cooked precisely to medium rare, served with a nicely dressed salad and a side of my choice. I ordered the french fries (that were french fry heaven,) but then I got a... More

Dined here on Tue, Apr 1st with my wife and daughter. Nice place, service was good, and food was very good. My wife truly enjoyed her burger, also loved the fries which my wife shared with me and our daughter. I had a half rack of ribs and they're tender they fall off the bone. We had pudding for dessert,... More

...because they have more different kinds of bourbon than you can shake a stick at. (They sell bourbon "flights," if you're in the mood to experiment.) The food is delicious, though my hamburger literally exploded in my face -- it was so juicy that when I bit into it massive amounts of juice ran down my hands and shirt.

This place is great for a date, well behaved kids or a group of friends. Very versatile evening out. The menu isn't too large but there is something for everyone. It's warm and friendly inside. And there is an amazing scotch/whisky menu. It's definitely a grown up restaurant but in such a kid-filled area they kind of have to accommodate... More

Stumbled upon this restaurant out of a rather strange assoortment in Alameda. As a "house wine" drinker I was a tad shocked at the least expensive Chardonnay at $15.00. I noticed that they had every type of whiskey known to man, and the bartender was busy pouring myraid whiskey based drinks for happy customers. Had a $14.00 burger and only... More

We love to go to Alameda and eat at a restaurant called Barceluna. We discovered this restaurant by accident, but are very glad we did. Their food is excellent!! The gouda macaroni and cheese is unbelievable!! I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone. They have a wide variety of small plates and pizzas. It's delicious.

BarCeluna is a restaurant which we've been frequenting for years. It has had three different locations in Alameda yet has never stopped producing wonderful cuisine. Three tapas each to share with your party seems to be just the right amount. Here are some of my favorites: start with a seasonal salad, papas frites are fun to share, then the shrimp.... More
