Burma Superstar in Alameda(and Berkeley) is one of the best restaurants in town! The food is fabulous, the service is fast and gracious. They move customers through well and without making them feel rushed and explain the food well for newcomers! I highly recommend this gem.

I have been here several times. My last visit the food was uninspired, but sometimes it is delicious especially the spicy stirfry tofu and the tea leaf salad. The price is about 1 1/2 times an average Asian neighborhood restaurant.

Unless you want to stand outside for 90 minutes waiting while others seem to magically get tables the second they arrive, do what everyone else is doing: 1. Call the restaurant 60-90 minutes before you want to eat. If they don't answer, hang up and keep calling back until they do. Then ask to be put on their waiting list.... More

My wife and I have both eaten at Burma Superstar in Alameda at least 20 times. In fact, we went there before it assumed its present name, and was under the tutelage of a wonderful owner/chef. Throughout this 12 year period, this restaurant has maintained very good standards for its food and pricing (very reasonable cost for fairly complex dishes).... More

Burma Superstar is the best of the best. I save it for special occassions. The pea leaves and the Sesame Beef should not be passed up and the tamarind cocktail rocks.

Our son and his family live in Alameda and have decided this is one of their favorite restaurants and a must-go-to place for visiting friends. We were not disappointed. Having never had Burmese food, we were not sure exactly what to expect, but the dishes they chose for us were fantastic, especially the Rainbow Salad and Green Tea Salad, both... More

I was consulting in Oakland, CA when my colleague suggested we dine at this Burmese inspired restaurant. Having had no idea what to expect, I thought, why not? Burma Superstar was an excellent choice! There were three of us, so we decided to share dishes, family style which I highly recommend for culinary variety and a treat for your taste... More

The food here is so good! There are lots of vegetarian options. The Rainbow Salad (vegetarian option available) has 22 different ingredients and is mixed at your table. It is really one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. Mango Tofu and Fiery Tofu are two other entrees that I usually order while there. Both have tons of flavor.... More

Best food with fresh ingredients, prepared and nice presentation! Very tasty and colorful. My favs are the calamari appetizer, sesame beef, string beans, rainbow salad ( served with all the ingredients arranged separately. Server will point and tell you name of each ingredient then mixed all together to serve you) and coconut rice. Always pack at dinner. Suggest to go... More

This is one of a small chain of Burmese restaurants here in the Bay Area. Dishes here seem recognizable to uninitiated, but have a "Burmese" twist. Portions are not large, but the quality is apparent, and (we think) worth the price. I always order the signature Tea Leaf Salad... romaine lettuce, fried yellow beans, fried garlic, sesame seeds, fresh tomatoes,... More
