The Old Place is a nice, quant, and rustic setting in the hills of Malibu. Great for an morning or afternoon outing but be sure to have reservations. This is a small place and reservations are a must. Food is good albeit the menu is small. But what they serve is what they're good at.

I just returned from vacation in Alaska and stepping into this restaurant made me think I was back in the Klondike. You would never know from the street entrance, what was in store for you inside. A step back in time to the 1880's. The only thing I would change about this place might be to serve the food in... More

Lucky we had a table booked, the place was packed. Every seat was taken at the bar and every table jammed with diners; the restaurant was literally hopping. Our table was right in the back, so you felt part of the excited and frantic buzz of the place. We were offered drinks quickly, our table opting for two giant Manmosas.... More

Way out in the 'sticks' and its decor matches the old west charm of the place. A very, very small restaurant. Reservations are hard to make/get, as they only have booths/tables for 6, and they only have a handful of those. Otherwise, be prepared to eat at the bar - about a dozen seats along benches there. Bar is good... More

A party of 4 on a busy Sunday morning, we were greeted by a friendly bartender who told us in no uncertain terms that if we wanted brunch, we would sit at the only available seats, at the bar. So glad we did, because we were able to watch all the action and interact with other patrons, who all seemed... More

What a find! Living in LA for 25 years and never heard of "The Old Place Cornell". Just down the road from the famous (infamous?) Troutdale and across from the Peter Strauss Ranch you'll find two ranch-house style buildings that look like they are the from the sets for the last westerns filmed in the area. Side by side sits... This quirky restaurant was a great choice for an evening of fun with friends in a very different atmosphere. We had a reservation for 8:30 on a Thursday so we started at the winery next door - another great find! Charming menu and our meal was wonderful! The beer selection was small but good. I will definitely be returning to... More

This restaurant is located in an old rustic building in the Santa Monica Hills. It is small and very crowded. The brunch is hearty and tasty - frittatas come in a very hot small cast iron skillet and are large enough for two. Mine was the potatoes on the bottom, with dried tomatoes, pine nuts and goat cheese, quite tasty.... More

We arrived without a reservation (tip - make a reservation!!), and were greeted by a young man who told us tables wouldn't be available for hours but a spot at the bar would be ready in 40 minutes. He suggested we could have a drink at the winery next door whilst we waited and he would come get us. True... More
