This place really Rocks!

It's just about 5 minutes drive off of the 101 Freeway just off Kanan Dume Road but it feels like it's miles away. Nothing very fancy here but what they serve is well done. It's in the woods so you really get the feel of leaving town for an hour or so. It gets packed on the weekends so plan... read more

Tiny little rustic restaurant, that operates strictly with reservation. Meat eaters paradise, great steak, the Lamb Special was phenomenal, and the portions are not for the faint hearted! Good wine selection, and the Cornell Winery next door offers an even greater range, and tasting before you buy. Definately worth the visit, food prices were reasonable, and the ambiance is unique.... Great food in a very interesting location; the area and building feel like you've stepped into the set of an old Western movie - and far from the rush and crowds that are the L.A. area. We went hiking across the street at the Peter Strauss Ranch (great history there!), and then waited for our turn to be seated -... More

Very small & rustic..employees friendly. Food...not so great...and very expensive. Pot pie was a very small portion for the price. The beef stew was a better portion for the same price. In our party, 2 people ordered the beef stew and the dishes looked completely different. 1 beef stew had chucks of meat, the other (portion was smaller) had shreds... More

A memorable place. Traditional. Reservation needed. There are few tables and bar to be seated. Steak, chicken, oyster...all of them huge portions. Delicious food. Two , can share easily. The environment is splendid. After or before lunch, you can have a tour around the hidden lake that is located 3-4 miles away.

Amazing traditional restaurant in LA. A unique experience with a great wine bar and fabulous cuts of meat. Great seating plan as each member has 2 hours at their table and the service and food is great. Make your reservations early as it is always busy!

Chicken Oyster Soup - Just an example of the interesting dishes offered at The Old Place. Does the soup have chicken or oysters? The answer is chicken. A chicken oyster is the fillet part hidden inside the chicken breast. This was such a memorable soup for me! Meals change with the season, which means food is always timely and fresh.... More

How nice to have brunch in a place that is NOT on Ventura boulevard! It is a quaint little country place that serves a great brunch. I had a the grilled cheese sandwich which was very good and their "manmosa" (a giant mimosa) is great. The ambiance is awesome!

We made reservations for a Saturday night (a MUST) because even if you don't have them and you want to sit at the bar (which does not take reservations) the wait was well over an hour. There are 3 seatings for dinner, 5:00, 6:30 and 8:30. We opted for 6:30. The place is small but so much fun. The waitress... More
