Located in the back of a suburb strip center, you walk into what looks and feels like a local bistro in a big city like Chicago or New York. Went on a Thursday night, half empty, so was a little worried. Synopsis is very good, not great, food, excellent service, fantastic desserts, but pretty expensive for a local suburb restaurant,... Loved everything about this place. Allison was our server and she was great. Inquire about the tasting menu when you make a reservation. We went with the five course option and were stuffed happily.

It's been a couple of years since visiting an old favorite, but last night we found ourselves in Cafe 14. The economy has been tough to the restaurant industry, but this small, classy restaurant continues to turn out a creative menu, good service and great meals. The wine list is improved and the small plate menu gives you options. It... More

This restaurant has a fantastic menu, French inspired. That's not the only reason I like it. Their food is consistently good, we have been there over 40 times. Their food is above par. Their wine selection and knowledge of the staff is unlike anywhere else (you might see the same at 2 or 3 star Michelin restaurants). The staff is... More

Went with a few couples and really enjoyed the food! It's a place I'd love to go more often, but the food is so rich and hearty, that it keeps us from coming more often... We LOVED it though!

I and my friends LOVE Cafe 14. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's always a treat to be able to bring someone here who has never been - the restaurant never fails to delight. Have been here many times, most recently last week, and it is always consistently excellent, with top quality delicious food and excellent and welcoming service.... More

i went there with my wife and 3 couples. the atmosphere is bright and the sound travels. a good spot for couples. prices are consistent with a fine dining restaurant. no cork fee on friday is a big plus. the scallop appetizer melts. salmon was sweet but the thin fries will bring me back. i think the bannana bread pudding... Had dinner here for first time with friends. Had a drink at the bar while waiting for our friends. Bartender was very friendly and engaging...nice selection of scotch. For dinner we sat on the covered patio (they have heaters). Service was prompt, attentive and professional. Food was excellent - 2 of us had the duck, one had short ribs, and... More

This restaurant is located in a tiny strip mall right next to the freeway, but no traffic noise is evident inside. Overall it was an OK experience, but I would not return on my own account. The restaurant is actually pretty small and so seating seemed "very intimate" - aka cramped. It was very hot inside, which was uncomfortable for... More

What can I say? This restaurant does not live up to the better reviews, not in food quality or preparation; not in service, and certainly not in amenities. Once again, I am amazed at how low are people's expectations and how small of an effort on a restaurant part it takes to fill the tables. The only reason I can... More
