If you have fond memories of your Mom or Grandma's fried chicken, you must stop by Pannie George's in Auburn, AL. The fried chicken there is crispy, juicy, tender and seasoned just right. It is how fried chicken should taste but really doesn't anymore. Located on South College Street very close to the interstate, the restaurant is very casual. It's... More

I come from the land of Meat and Threes (Nashville) and all I have to say is that Pannie-George has got it goin' on! Excellent greens and black eyed peas with a tasty home made pepper sauce on the table. The fried chicken was hot and crispy the way I like it but could have used a little more spice.... More

Upon recommendation of my neighbor, my wife and I stopped in for a late lunch. The food was great! I ordered the catfish and my wife ordered the fired chicken, our sides being Corn casserole, cabbage, black-eyed peas and my wife had sweet potato pie for dessert. Cost of $22.00 for our meals. The sweet potato pie was not sweet... More

Saw this place online and decided to stop for lunch on our way home from N. GA. Didn't know what to expect, but was surprised how good it was. Good southern cooking served up quickly and abundantly.

Pannie George's is ALWAYS very busy so make it a point to be there at opening or be prepared to wait in line. It's not fancy, but it sure is good. Everything tastes just like it's supposed to, with lots of love and care, and the ladies are always friendly and helpful in explaining each item. Not a large place,... More

These ladies know how to cook! The BEST fried chicken I've ever had, bar none (other than mom's). The vegetables are just as good. And don't pass by the desserts either. The lady that made the peach cobbler last Sunday was on her "A" game! If you visit Auburn or are driving on I-85, you have to stop by. Fortunately,... More

A great little local place tucked into a strip mall, if you blink you could miss it. But it's worth the trip. Chicken fried steak, hot crispy just the right amount of coating. Smothered cabbage with a fine addition of just the right amount of collards mixed in. Okay mashed potatoes. Decent fried okra. Very tasty buttermilk pie. Very reasonably... More

Students and locals drive to the edge of town (right off I-85; exit 51) for home cooking of traditional meats and veggies. Good service, you can always find some Southern cooking you like.

I love southern fried chicken so this place was a big hit with me! They also had home made creamed corn (no, not that crap from a can, the real southern delicacy). The cooked cabbage was cooked perfectly (I.e., done, not boiled into mush). The apple cobbler had a bit too much of a biscuit crust and was very sweet,... More

This is place is what home cooking is all about. Great fried chicken and friendly service! The operating hours on game day are a little dicey; however, one's persistence in making a visit happen will be amply rewarded...
