My husband used to eat here when he was traveling for his job and had been wanting me to try it. We finally got a chance and I will say it was very good. We had the pulled pork plate with baked beans and potato salad. The pork was lean with no fat or gristle in it. Potato salad was... More

If you don't like Lawler's on Hobbs Street, you probably have a personal agenda associated with another restaurant. My family eats at Lawler's 3 days a week at lunch for 4 years. We have tried everything on the menu and love the buffet. The service is over and above the call of duty, the atmosphere is always friendly, and you... More

We enjoy the Hwy 72 location. Their combo plates, pulled pork, or chicken are so good. We were in the area of Hobbs Street so decided to try it out. Less than desirable atmosphere. Tables, seats, and all fixtures need to be replaced. Just felt dirty. Ate the buffet and regretted our decision. Won't be back!

You can't beat their deal on pulled pork with sides, plenty enough to feed 4-5 people for cheap. Today I wanted ribs so we split a slab with sides. Not bad, just not that good, much better ribs at 306 BBQ. Other than the pulled pork, this place offers lunch sides that change daily and with the seasons. The vinegar... More

I ate at the one near police station. The service is horrible and the nachos were gross. I couldn't finish food and left.

This Lawler's location was one of our go to places when we wanted pulled pork sandwiches and fries. They had great crinkle cut fries that were always fresh, hot and cooked to order. Was just there tonight and discovered they have gone to a gross, crispy coated fry that tastes like greasy Rice Krispies. With 306 BBQ in town and... More

Lawler's Barbecue and Catfish is on Hobbs Street near Athens State College. From the outside Lawler's looks like a fast food drive in. However, despite the fast food appearance Lawler's Barbecue and Catfish actually sports a good sized dining room. Lawler's system works like this: you order your food at the counter and if you're dining in then you proceed... More

I recently visited Lawler's because I was curious. My opinion is that there are better barbeque restaurants available over this one. The cole slaw was too vinegary and the pork barbecue tasteless.

This place is awesome if you are a BBQ lover. Pulled pork plate special is amazing. This is not a BBQ that is drowning in sauce or a slaw that is heaped with mayo. They let the meat shine as the star with sauces to compliment. Try the white sauce-excellent. Slaw is vinegar based and worth trying. Potato salad is... More
