Before attending a show at the Warner Theater, my wife and I ate at this pub/restaurant which was a quick walk around the block and definitely worth the trip. We were looking for moderately-priced, casual dining, good food and perhaps a drink to start our evening and Elephant & Castle delivered. I selections were simple, Fish & Chips, Butter Chicken... We stumbled upon the Elephant & Castle while we were wandering the streets in the rain looking for somewhere good to eat. We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and the Shepherd's Pie (as it was rainy and quite cold outside), but our eyes and bellies got the best of us and we decided to split an order of nachos thinking... I had not visited here is a while since they changed their menu and took away some of my favorites. I decided to go once again just for happy hour. I had no problem getting a table. The service is prompt and courteous. I was surprised and pleased to learn that there was a porter beer on draft. It was... More

Had the lamb shank and the french onion soup and both were just OK. Nothing really great. The others in my party shared the same opinion. I would think this place would be better to share a few drinks rather than eat in my estimate.

I really liked the Pub atmosphere. The restaurant was nearly full during dinner but the noise level was perfect for holding a conversation with old friends. The friendly bar staff came to our table when I enquired about the Bourbon selection which was very good for an English Pub. The pretzel bread appetizer was excellent and my wedge salad with... More

Been to Canada many times and the thing I missed the most was definitely - Poutine, the warm, meaty gravy and chunky fries... I went all over DC and finally found this bar & restaurant with a wide selection of Poutine! The food was both authentic and inexpensive! I love this restaurant! It also has outside seating during summers and... More

We ate lunch here between visits to the Smithsonian Natural History and American History museums. It is a short walk from the National Mall. We sat out on the patio and people watched on Pennsylvania Avenue while we ate and drank. The food was good. I had the Yorkshire Pudding which was very good. Also, had a couple of very... More

This had a different menu. It was somewhat limited but food was good and much better than museum food options. Apparently, we have food from England (Stuffed Yorkshire pudding) and India (butter chicken). We tried both one day and had soup and shared a sandwich the next. Don't sit by the window as you come in. It is too cold... More
