After Mass at the Basilica

Busboys and Poets is an interesting combination of restaurant, bookstore and internet cafe. The food is pretty good, I had a very tasty tuna burger. There are lots of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu, as well. Busboys and Poets is right across the street from Eatonville-- both represent tributes to famous African American authors...Langston Hughes and Zora Neal... More

This is a great spot in DC to meet up with friends, grab a coffee, or drop in for one of their many events. You'll love the socially conscious graffiti and the red velvet curtain in the event's room gives a radio hall vibe. Does get busy though so plan ahead if you have a large party.

Although I can't remember what the four of us ate, I do know we all enjoyed it and service was ok slow. A water never came and some silverware was not brought right away. A busboy or poet could not afford to eat here. Very pleasant cool environment and the food was good, even my wife who is picky really... More

This was only my 2nd time visiting. I ordered the fried chicken and greens. All I can say is YUM....the chicken was a boneless skinless breast that seemed pan fried, which I liked. The herbs on the chicken were really good and savory. The greens and mashed potatoes were pretty flavorful as well. Overall really good food. I can't leave... More

Met my local friends here for dinner. It was fantastic and I tried a bite from others' plates too...my shrimp and grits were excellent, but then I tasted the blackened salmon and the catfish. Wow! Flavorful and perfectly cooked. Aside from the food, there is a bit of history here too, but you'll have to go in to find out... More

I had a quinoa entree with fried tofu, and my husband had a quesadilla. Coconut tofu thingy as an appetizer was fantastic!! My entree was amazing as well! I use quinoa at home time to time, but I never thought of cooking/seasoning the way they serve, which was simply eye opening! Besides our food, our waitress was one of the... More

The restaurant was packed - a good sign, since it's been around a while. The menu is wide-ranging, and the crabcakes which I ordered were full of fresh crab meat and properly done. Excellent! The coffee too was good. Ambience is wonderful - based on a story from the life of Langston Hughes! Worth visiting.

We had gone here for Sunday brunch and fell in love with the place. It has great vibe, amazing food and lovely book collection. It was quite unique and one of its kind.
