Busboys & Poets: Great name, great food !

I was only in Washington a few days, but Busboys & Poets was so good I returned for lunch the next day. The restaurant was recommended by my hostel, which was only two blocks away. This is an arty, somewhat arty place with very good food and moderate prices. It is easy to sit and talk there.

Our party of three had breakfast at Busboys and Poets on a Saturday morning in May. We got right in, eventhough the restaurant was quite busy. Our server, Jorge, was extremely pleasant, and had very good recommendations for menu choices. Oaxaca omelette and sweet potato pancakes were quote good.

I ordered a pomegranate lemonade which was tasty. What I loved about the place was the eclectic art, books, mixed tables and sitting options and the philosophy of opening discussions and minds. What an amazing spot. Can't wait to enjoy some food at this establishment!

Husband and I were visiting DC for the first time and did a little homework and found great reviews for this place. We purchased tickets in advance so we could visit to listen to the Friday night poetry and open mic talent and boy were we blown away! From the MC, singers, musicians, onstage marriage proposal, and poet/activist Yaya, we... More

Loved the food, loved the eclectic feel and the service was great too! People were nice and best part was that they had halal organic free-range chicken served! :)

I was visiting DC for the first time and was ready for dinner. My friend suggested we eat here because she figured I'd like this place. She was right! The atmosphere and the food were fantastic. There is even a small bookstore and an open Mic poetry reading. This is a place you have to visit if you are ever... More

We finally found Busboys & Poets on our 2nd day after 12 miles of walking DC and it was a welcome oasis that has such atmosphere - we HIGHLY commend it to you! Look up the historical significance of these places http://www.busboysandpoets.com/about/5th-k ... and if you (like us) are drawn to non-traditional touristy places that the locals frequent - THIS... This is a restaurant and book store rolled up into one.....on the bookstore side you will find the faithful on their devices while waiting on their food and/or beverage. I hqve found some really nice cultural books there. The food: I have enjoyed every meal I hqve had here and you don't leave hungry.... My friends say their greens are... More
