Great Ceviche

My husband wanted ceviche and he was not disappointed. He had two types. I had the Lomo Saltado and it was very similar to the dish I had in Lima. We made our reservations at the last minute so was told that it would be 9:45pm. We were told to call around 9:00pm and perhaps they could get us in... read more

OK, we were heading to our favorite restaurant and they had no power so we went to Las Canteras. I'm more of a conservative when it comes to food and I only found 1 thing on the menu I would like. The meal was good, the service was POOR. I asked for a refill on my drink mid meal and... More

We totally enjoyed our dinner at Las Canteras. The decor is very Spanish with the muted oranges and dark furniture. From the time we walked in the door we felt welcomed and comfortable. We did not have reservations but were there early for dinner (about 5:50 pm) and we had this fabulous table for two right in the front window.... More

I was raise and born in lima Peru so I'm really picky when it comes to peruvian restaurants in the US. I 10000% recommend this restaurant if you are looking to eat some authentic peruvian food. I more than love it and if I live in DC I will be going every week.

The Ceviche Classico was terrific, every bit as good as ceviche I enjoyed in Peru a few months ago. Chocolate quinoa cake for dessert was amazing, served warm, about 2/3 of a cup in volume, slightly bitter very dark dark chocolate, a hint of quinoa texture, and wonderful. Our server was attentive and very polite - terrific. Interior of restaurant... More

The Ceviche Classico is perfect and delicious. It's so interesting. It has chunks of white fish, red onion, and the perfect amount of acid. Also in the bowl is some sweet potato and corn kernels. It all goes together exceptionally well. The lomo saltado is also really good; I'd definitely order it again. The seco de carne is good too,... More

Not only genuine. Excellent too. Besides all the standards, except papa a la huancaina, they have a superb risotto made with quinoa. Don't miss it. Great staff. Attentive service, in spite of our being a party of 11.

Las Canteras is a wonderful restaurant near me and if I ever win the lottery I'll be there at least once a week. As it is, it's more of a special occasion place for me, and I look forward to it every time. The cebiche is awesome and there are several varieties from which to select; my personal favorite is... A "don't miss" experience. All sorts of unfamiliar flavors and preparations. Gary is a wonderful host; engage him to enhance the dinner. Food is really good but different. We Went there one Friday and had two fish dishes and two starters. Get the quinoa salad and one of the cebiches ( the least expensive one is superb). Halfway through dinner... More

Having fond memories of a recent Peruvian vacation, I decided to visit the highest rated Peruvian restaurant while in Washington DC. Las Canteras was very pleasant and the service was good. The Pisco Sours were delicious, but I had been forever spoiled by a place called the Huaringas Bar in Lima. The food was good overall, but varied in quality.... More
