a good dining experience

Excellent service is the first thing I would say. I particularly wanted to have the mussels, which is why I went. They were well prepared BUT maybe half of them had a lot of sand in them.I ate every one of the accompanying frites - they were that good. We had the creme brulee for dessert, and it... read more

The menu is very broad--there is something for every one. We had 2 different dinner 'paths' when we saw the menu (foie gras, duck vs oysters and mussels). We did the mussels and frites and wow were we glad! they were great! (Not that I won't go back and have the other things, too!). We got 4 half orders to... More

It's not easy to find a first-rate restaurant that is open for brunch on Saturday in the Penn Quarter/City Center neighborhood of DC. Four of us went to Brasserie Beck, which was far from filled and hence pleasantly quiet. We sat at a sunlit table in an alcove and spent a deliciously unhurried hour and a half catching up with... Recommended by friends, they didn't steer us wrong! One night we had cocktails ('side ways'), and bar food - the dip with onion and Gruyere was amazing! We went back for dinner. Hubby had a steak and I had beef stew with Brussels sprouts, desserts were great too. Wait and bar staff were very friendly. Wish we lived closer!

Belgian style food is featured, i.e., mussels & frites, steak & frites, etc. Excellant ambiance, very good food, outstanding service. A good special occaision place. Been there a number of times for both drinks... More

It is always amazing when you find a restaurant that has your new favorite anything. At Brasserie Beck it is their version of French onion soup. The ambience is similar to small french restaurants. Oh yes, - and the best coffee in D. C.

A very excellent, eclectic menu in a French brasserie setting. After a very helpful discussion with the waiter, all four of us chose the sautéed mussels, but in different broths. Accompanied by crisp French fries, our taste buds experienced a real treat. The bread was just right for "mopping up". A good, but pricy wine list. The house chardonnay was... More
