Long weekend wait but worth it.

Nice place with options for outside and indoor seating. The counter culture coffee was hot and strong and I loved the animal crackers but given the food prices one free refill would be welcome. Great breakfast/brunch/lunch/dinner options and the best grits I have had outside the south.

We ate twice at Open City while staying at the nearby Omni Shoreham. At breakfast, I had a delicious egg, bacon, and cheddar scramble, with some very tasty cheese grits on the side. There are many coffee options - but just their regular (large!) cup of joe is quite good. For dinner, I had the chili and grilled cheese sandwich... More

I ate here on a Friday during the lunch time rush. We did not have to wait to be seated, but did wait a bit for our food after ordering. I ordered the veggie burger. The patty was house made, however lacked seasoning. I guess if I were in the area I would dine there again, but wouldn't make a... More

The Diner is between two conference hotels. The prices are reasonable for D. C. The breakfast is good. The bacon is very good as is the coffee but no refills. The hamburger is very good for dinner. The pastries and dessert is also good. It can get crowded.

I was in DC on business for a couple of days in June 2015 and staying at the nearby Omni Shoreham hotel. My meetings and calls ran through 9:30pm, and once they were done I was starving but wanted to avoid room service. So, I went over to Open City. I had a good experience. The restaurant was busy at... In a burger mood, we sampled the Turkey Burger and the Veggie Burger and both were fine, satisfactory, though the Turkey burger was a bit on the dry side. Service was slow, and waters were unfilled for far too long; in fact, I got up and filled my own twice. Still, nice lunch, sitting outside on a balmy Thursday afternoon.

This meal was by far the best I have ever had. The service was excellent, and when it rained, they let us move inside. The burgers are delicious, and the Buttermilk Pancakes far exceeded my expectations.

Had a nice evening meal at this restaurant, it's a very popular place and gets really busy. Good service, friendly staff

This place seems like a kind of local hangout: the wait staff seemed to know a lot of the patrons by name. They offer a good variety, including several vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere is very informal and very noisy- my friend and I found it difficult to carry on a conversation without yelling. My biggest complaint was that the waitress... More
