Description: Blue Duck Tavern, a contemporary neighborhood restaurant, invites its guests to gather and celebrate in good taste with a menu focusing on the freshest ingredients available from local purveyors and artisans. The menu notes every farm where the main ingredient for the dish was raised before its journey to the table. Dishes are genuine, time-honored and traditional -- slow roasting in wood embers, braising, preserving and smoking techniques bring the true flavors of America's great, simple and wholesome foods to the Blue Duck Tavern. The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

The food here is the star, while the service is a very close second. The food is wonderful. I had the braised beef rib and the roasted cauliflower gratin, and each were absolutely delicious. And even though I had no room for it, I made a point of ordering dessert. It was the market dessert special of the day, which... More

Came here with my wife to enjoy brunch. We had the sticky buns, grits and smoked gouda cheese, egg white omelette and crab cake. If you eat here the sticky buns are a must! Just a heads up...a serving of sticky buns comes as two. Overall a very good brunch with a lot of good drink options (ie Bloody Maria,... More

Hubby and I came in for brunch. Service is very attentive, and the food is heavenly. Everything on the menu looked appealing, and there was great variety. Must haves: sticky buns (you won't want to share these!), crab cakes, and Gouda grits. Although we didn't have room for dessert, the options looked amazing also. Definitely recommend!

Had actually 3 meals in 72hrs at the blue duck while visiting Washington and the experience was awesome! Strongly recommend it , we had a sea urchin prepared like a mousse custard as appetizer the last night , the chef came and explained it to us! We also had the Bone marrow and the salad with triple baked pecans...We liked... More

We loved our waiter and the food was nicely prepared. Just not food I am used to ordering on a menu. Some people like exotic menus, I am a comfort food person. I did like the corkage fee, we were able to bring a great bottle ourselves and save some money!

I decided to try out the restaurant for lunch during my recent trip to DC. It was a pretty quick decision as I was looking for something local/organic and most other googled places were open for dinner only. The first impression was pleasant and it seemed like I made a good choice. Unfortunately soon after, I learnt that like one... More

This is my favorite WDC restaurant. So cozy and delicious food. Love sitting by the busy kitchen. Have eaten here any times and the pumpkin soup served in acorn squash that is on the menu right now might be one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten -- the soup, the squash, the foie gras and the tart... The soup was absolutely amazing! The suckling pig sandwich has the potential to be amazing; the seaweed-like leafs they put in it really ruined it for me. Also, suckling pig usually comes with its skin but this sandwich just had very wet meat. It also needed seasoning and a hot mustard. The place is beautiful and the service amazing.

Wonderful food in a modern dining room. Unique dishes. Open kitchen. The fois gras was fabulous as were the short ribs. The apple cake for two is awesome - have not had better. Very expensive but worth it for a treat

This place was in the Hyatt Hotel and came with good reviews. The food is very good but the place is quite noisy. It was very hard to hear out waiter. We actually came from DuPont Circle to go this restaurant. I'm not sure if I would make that trip again but if I was in the area I would... More
