Shankar was, by far, the very best moment of our extraordinary experience at Blue Duck Tavern. Not only did he give us a tour of the open kitchen, but he didn't steer us wrong with any of our selections. Not only will I deeply recommend this restaurant, but I'd recommend this invaluable gem of a waiter!

With no reservation, we were able to get 4 seats in the bar area, where they have additional tables and stool-type shared tables as well. Service was excellent and you can certainly order off the restaurant menu. A nice selection of new American cuisine with a good choice of wines by the glass. Enjoyed the food and ambiance. Great place... More

I don't know how many times I've eaten at Blue Duck, but I've never been disappointed. DC has slowly come into its own as a restaurant city and it keeps improving. That said there are a few places that really define American cuisine in DC. The chef has changed in the last few years, but it remains an outstanding place... More

We arrived early for our reservation and ended up eating in the bar. The service was excellent and the food sublime. We have eaten in some great restaurants but my husband reckoned this was the best wagyu beef ever!! My burger and chips were also great. Good atmosphere (and fabulous huge doors!!)

On our most recent visit we decided for a lite meal and conversation. BDT has great decor, wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff and above all great food. Generally our expectations are meet or exceeded when we visit. This most recent meal was no exception. Their menu shifts seasonally so order and eat family style with friends to try it all.

The food here is undeniably some of the best in D.C. Every dish, every item, was truly delicious. I was impressed by each course. Appetizers were excellent, mains were tremendous. But be warned, costs mount easily here. We were a party of three, with one appetizer and one main each, plus a side. We split a mid-priced bottle of wine,... More

A group of us ate at the Blue Duck. The menu was selected in advance, following the family table principle. 3 courses plus appetizers and desert were brought to us. What made the meal special was the 100% US origin. Cheese, chorizo, meat all were products of the US. The executive chef introduced all the dishes personally, giving it an... More

i would go just for the roasted bone marrow! For my entree I had potato encrusted hake that was also fabulous. We had a glass of wine each. The service was flawless. We were too full to try the apple pie for two, but it looked wonderful!
