Great food - slightly odd surrounding

The food is fantastic and is well worth spending the money on experiencing. The service was great, the atmosphere lively. The only (very minor) gripe is that the setting feels a bit sterile, it's a shame that the quality of the the kitchen isn't quite translated to the feeling to get at the table.

If you're talking to me, our meal was really good. I didn't love the flavor of the chicken I got, but it was cooked really well and presented beautifully. If you're talking to my husband, this meal was amazing. He got scallops and loved loved loved them. We also got the cauliflower which was really good. The french fries are... More

Took my wife there for her birthday and we were not disappointed. Even while busy, the food came out relatively quick. The atmosphere was nice with the added twist of having the kitchen completely visible to the customers. The staff was very professional (shout out to our waiters Seankar and Zach). The prices were pretty competitive to be DC fine... More

Just a few days after Christmas in 2015, my husband and I had a divine culinary experience at the Chef's Table at Blue Duck Tavern. I don't know the best words to describe the deliciousness of the foods we ate. I am not a food critic or a writer. But I believe I know manna from heaven when I taste... More

Reading some of the other reviews (which is why we chose Blue Duck in the first place), I have to wonder if we were even in the same restaurant. Some things went well, others quite badly. For starters, the dining room seems to be a bit bipolar. On the manic side, there is seating near the open kitchen; then there... More

Still upset the day after a meal here is not what I think the restaurant was going for. But that's the end result after a horrid meal in a horrid space. When I requested a nice table in my reservation I had no idea that there wasn't one in this restaurant. It is a cold, industrial feeling space with concrete... More

Great for foodies. Open kitchen, innovative dishes served family style, so easy to sample lots of dishes. My favorite was the caramel molten cake. Wow! And I consider myself a dessert connoisseur. Service was excellent, as well.

My husband and I visited Washington the last week in January, just when Washington was trying to dig out from the huge snowstorm. All museums were closed so we decided to try this restaurant .... and we are SO GLAD that we did! This place is truly amazing. Our waiter, Shiva, was from Nepal originally, and provided perfect service. We... More

This restaurant is perfection. First, of course, the food is fantastic. The flavor profile of the dishes is engaging and features really inventive combinations, but is still approachable. It's one of those restaurants where there are too many dishes that sound amazing, so you end up ordering multiple entrees just to snag a taste. The ambience is incredibly inviting--airy, open,...
