Description: Blue Duck Tavern, a contemporary neighborhood restaurant, invites its guests to gather and celebrate in good taste with a menu focusing on the freshest ingredients available from local purveyors and artisans. The menu notes every farm where the main ingredient for the dish was raised before its journey to the table. Dishes are genuine, time-honored and traditional -- slow roasting in wood embers, braising, preserving and smoking techniques bring the true flavors of America's great, simple and wholesome foods to the Blue Duck Tavern. The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

What I like about Blue Duck is the pastries and breads - so well done and fabulous as to be a meal in itself. What I don't like is the complexity of the dishes like chicken and waffles that really bear no resemblance to what you'd expect...either in flavor profile or appearance. I do like modern takes on old dishes,... More

I love this modern spin on an old tavern. With a great drink menu, for cocktails, as well as terrific appiteasers. Full list of fine teas at tea time, as well as a great spread. I love the atmosphere as well as the food. Menus change with the season, I am sure whatever you order will be wonderful. With the... More

I was able to secure an Easter brunch reservation for my family on the final day of our DC adventure and everything about the experience totally exceeded our expectations. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, for the first seating, and were able to watch the pastry team setting up the dessert buffet while we waited for our... More

Once again, my partner and I had one of the most memorable meals in our lives at Blue Duck Tavern. My partner took me to Blue Duck last year for my birthday, and it was an unforgettable meal, so this year he took me back! The fresh quality and presentation of the food is wonderful and the service is beyone... More

It was a daddy's weekend in DC so my friend Randy I left the boyfriends at home to embark on our first ever solo trip. After checking in to the St Regis (a favorite of mine) and drinks at POV at the W we headed to BDT for dinner at about 830. It's an attractive restaurant; dark and long with... More

As we stayed at the Park Hyatt, we ate at the Blue Duck Tavern several times. Each time i was disappointed in the food. The outdoor seating area is great, and I truly enjoyed it. However, after four days of breakfast at the restaurant, the only dish that i wasn't disappointed in was the Short Rib Hash. Each egg dish... More

The BDT is a delightful spot for lunch. Impressive service - the most accommodating and professional I've experienced in DC, a truly inspiring atmosphere, and delectable fare served from an amazing open kitchen, this is a comfortable, top notch eatery in the West End of DC.

Inside a Hyatt w/fab cherry blossom glass structure. The restaurant reception people are soo kind. Lead you to the bathroom and no pressure even though we were running late due to traffic. Took my jacket for me as I'd forgotten to check it. Place is cozy and elegant, surprised us with pink champagne for our anniversary (I was staying at... More

Having recently paid too much for too little at another "great" restaurant, I can say the BDT is worth both the time and expense. Service is understated but appreciated. Food is locally sourced, fresh, and well considered. Haute cuisine is not the deal here. Incredibly high quality, consistent, really well done food is. Thank you BDT. If I search for... More

Staff and service was great but the food was not to my liking. Our Frittata and Omelets were overcooked, and even the food was wonderful the value is not there.
