Description: Blue Duck Tavern, a contemporary neighborhood restaurant, invites its guests to gather and celebrate in good taste with a menu focusing on the freshest ingredients available from local purveyors and artisans. The menu notes every farm where the main ingredient for the dish was raised before its journey to the table. Dishes are genuine, time-honored and traditional -- slow roasting in wood embers, braising, preserving and smoking techniques bring the true flavors of America's great, simple and wholesome foods to the Blue Duck Tavern. The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

I cannot tell you how much I love Blue Duck Tavern. It is where I bring my family when they visit from out of town, as well as discerning foodie friends; and it is where I go when I feel like treating myself. My favorite menu items include: North Carolina swordfish. Smoked just enough without taking away from the swordfish,... More

My wife and I spent the weekend in DC and picked the Blue Duck Tavern this past Sunday for our anniversary dinner. First surprise is that the restaurant does a great job of providing atmosphere that you dont typically find in a hotel. Also it is an "open Kitchen" so you get to experience the prep conveniently from many tables.... More

Loved the food, service was very good but service in between courses a bit slow. Bone marrow incredible, monk fish very tasty, awesome crab cakes and suckling pig was my friend's favourite. Don't forget to finish off with their yummy apple pie with tons of ice cream. Great choice.

Wow, what a fabulous meal ! Service - fantastic. Attentive without being intrusive. Water and wine glasses were refilled automatically and discreetly. Kushma was our main server and he was just great: pleasant and professional. Food - delicious. Apps- pumpkin soup special was wonderful. Cauliflower salad and oysters good but nothing special. Entrees - Wagyu, Bison, crab cakes, pork chop... More

Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner we have very rarely experienced even a minor disappointment art this restaurant. The staff is young, enthusiastic, motivated and, with the exception of interns training internationally, has a low turnover that would be valued by many in the F&B business. This trip we variously ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant, with each service... More

Stayed at the Park Hyatt, had a wonderful Friday night dinner here. The Pork Chop is very good. Service was impeccable. Our Waiter even took an item off the bill because my wife realized that she didn't really enjoy it. Very good atmosphere with private seating and decent views. Breakfast is tasty. Tried the pecan roll which was very good.... More

They say good is the enemy of great and I'd say that's true here. The service, atmosphere, and presentation was GREAT!! The only thing keeping this from being 5-star was a wow factor of the food taste. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good and the value is actually incredible (ie. they definitely price properly and I didn't... More

Sat in the lounge because we didn't have a reservation, it was well worth it. We were way under-dressed and that was fine. Out of 5 people, EVERYTHING was amazing! they even had Gluten free.

We enjoyed the entire experience- highly recommend the Heirloom tomato salad and the French fries- the grits and mushrooms were good, but not as good as the other appetizer and sides- the entrees that were enjoyed ...Chicken and crab cakes- the bison hanger steak was delicious and the swordfish was smoky flavored, and pan seared. You should try the apple... More

Do DC restaurants strictly limit the number of reservations accepted? I tried to reserve a table at BDT and was told they were booked solid until 10:15pm. When we arrived at 5:50, we were seated immediately and the restaurant was pretty empty. We tried the fried sweetbreads, very good. I had the duck which was excellent and my husband had... More
