Description: Blue Duck Tavern, a contemporary neighborhood restaurant, invites its guests to gather and celebrate in good taste with a menu focusing on the freshest ingredients available from local purveyors and artisans. The menu notes every farm where the main ingredient for the dish was raised before its journey to the table. Dishes are genuine, time-honored and traditional -- slow roasting in wood embers, braising, preserving and smoking techniques bring the true flavors of America's great, simple and wholesome foods to the Blue Duck Tavern. The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

The meals, service, and even the drinks were extraordinary. It is a beautiful restaurant and you can even stay in the building.

My daughter read about this restaurant and wanted to go. For me, it was just okay ... I wouldn't rush to go back. It was so crowded. Although we had reservations, we had to wait a while. I'm unsure if I like the open kitchen concept where there is no separation of the tables from the cooks. The dishes we... More

Had lunch with friends at the tavern and the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing. They gave us a table in a corner, and let us take our time, enjoy our friends, and enjoy the wonderful food. Because of that experience, I took a friend there for a very late dinner. The late night menu was satisfying and the atmosphere... More

My friend and I enjoyed a lovely brunch on a recent Sunday. Menu is varied and so something for everyone. While the food was excellent, I was somewhat dismayed by the disorganized wait staff. Usually they are superb, but they were not on their game. A table of about 8 people arrived and were seated next to us. This seemed... More

For my daughter's birthday we picked Blue Duck and had a fabulous experience from start (the gorgeous women greeting you) to finish (the apple pie). Sitting in the room open to the kitchen gave us the opportunity to watch restaurant choreography at its best. The food was wonderful -- suckling pig and beef short rib for our entrees. The short... Fantastic, interesting food and great service. Worth the trip without question. The signature duck fat fries are alone the best in town even if you had nothing else. The Roasted Bone Marrow was stellar, each dish wash lovely and swelled the senses.

Since I was staying at Park Hyatt Washington for a seminar, I decided to try Blue Duck Tavern for my dinner. I almost changed my mind as the Hostess & assistants were very unwelcoming questioning me repeatedly as to whether I was staying at the Hotel – I was asked my room number by 3 people prior to their decision... Ate breakfast. The short rib hash is quite good. The food is definitely above average, but the service is memorably excellent. My host went through the trouble of making a modification request for me even though he thought it wasn't possible. He was attentive, friendly, and just plain nice.

We went for bunch and the food was great and the service was excellent! The restaurant is beautiful with a open kitchen so as you walk through the restaurant you can see every step of the meal prep. The chicken and waffles were delicious and the chicken was VERY crunchy, although I wish I had asked for the gravy on... More
