My Dad was a gourmet food distributor so I am always looking to find restaurants that are cutting edge in food preparation and presentation. CityZen perfectly meets that criteria. The food combinations are daring and yet not bizarre and the presentation of the food is elegant and worthy of being photographed and put in a magazine. The setting in the... More

My husband and I dined here on recommendation of a local friend we were meeting for dinner. We were looking forward to being blown away with inventive, carefully-prepared cuisine and high touch service. While our overall experience was very nice, the food let us down as did the staff. Nothing was horribly wrong. But given the prices of the four-course... More

We met a friend for afternoon tea and since the restaurant had an opening at 5:30, we decided to stay. And I"m sooooo glad we did. From the minute we were greeted at the door to the moment we left we were treated to a wonderful dining experience. We both selected the 6 course tasting menus with the wine pairings.... More

Service, food, ambient are all excellent. 5 stars standard of Mandarin Oriental. Would definitely return. Price is not too bad.

My wife and I wanted to have a date night while we were vacationing in Washington D.C. After reading reviews for CityZen we decided to go there. We made reservations for 6:30pm. We showed up and were greeted by a very friendly hostess who checked us in and immediately seated us next to the kitchen area. We first ordered some... More

We had the vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings. Each course was unique and of high quality. This place was very expensive, and good for a dress-up special dinner.

My wife and I went here to celebrate our anniversary and to try a new high-end restaurant in DC. We were not disappointed. Be prepared for a hefty bill, but it is worth it for a special occasion. The tasting menu was unique and we ate every bite, even after we were full, because it was so tasty. The desserts... More

It was my wife's 40th and we could not have asked for more. Out of this world food and service and many wonderful extras to make my wife feel special. It was not an inexpensive dinner, but the staff at Cityzen make sure that you get full value for what you pay for. An absolute must for a special occasion.

We really enjoyed the tasting menu at this restaurant. The tasting menu is quite inventive. Really enjoyed the combination of seafood and meat. Service was fantastic. Though it was pricey, I think the generous portion along with the quality of the food makes it a worthwhile place to visit. One of the best in D.C.

The contemporary cuisine was amazing. Staff members went out of their way to make a fabulous anniversary experience. Notable selections included soft-shell crab tempera, pan roasted rockfish, poached Maine lobster, pan seared prime Midwestern beef, and blueberry crepes.
