Enjoyed eating here with a party of 8. Wine recommended by our waiter was good and we had 2 bottles. Appetizers at our table included a salad consisting of beets which was very interesting. The service had large pauses and we had about a 10 minute wait for water after we were seated. The bread was white and whole wheat... More

As previous reviews state, this is not your "usual" Greek restaurant. Too often Greek restaurants have the same old, same old dishes and that can get old. Greece has many, many different regions and Mouraya seems to have gathered some of the most unique recipes and then given them a little twist. The food and wine pairings were superb. The... More

Went here with 10 people, while at a weeklong meeting at the nearby Hilton Hotel. This was the highest rated trip advisor restaurant within a few block radius, that took reservations. Our expectations were for an upscale Greek restaurant, with attentive and good service, a good selection of Greek inspired dishes, at a reasonable price. Our expectations were met and... More

Dupont Circle is a must-visit spot when you visit DC, but most of its many restaurants are merely adequate. Mourayo is a standout for its style and warmth - also because the wait staff are well-trained, no-nonsense professionals; there is none of that I'm-just-waiting-tables-until-something-real-happens attitude. The food is well prepared and presented in artful and interesting ways. It's apparently cooked... More

My friend and I arrived early, just shortly after this restaurant opened on a cold blustery spring day. It was too cold to spend our time checking out too many nearby restaurants and, although we both enjoy Italian food, we welcomed a change from the many, many Italian restaurants nearby. A quick look at the menu hinted at a modern... More

We ate at Mourayo, and while we liked it, it is "high end" Greek food. Not all the "taverna" standards are here, and I guess I thought it would have more traditional dishes. I did really enjoy the Greek wines that I tried on the recommendation of our server. Everything we ate we enjoyed.

Charming, relaxed atmosphere. The kindness of the waitstaff stands out. The food was excellent for this price range and accomplishes almost everything it aims for. Wide selection with a focus on seafood but includes pork and lamb. We had the grilled cuttlefish appetizer, which was perfectly tender. The Beggars Pouch (manouri cheese in crispy phyllo) was ok, as I'm not... More

Very good monkfish. Lovely dessert (greek yogurt with honey - guilt free!) . Small, intimate restaurant. No wait (at least not the night we were there, which was a weeknight over spring break).

Washington doesn't have many Greek restaurants, and it has even fewer good ones. Mourayo is a standout. In the five or so years since it's opened I've never had a less than wonderful meal there and I think by now I've tried everything on the menu. You will find some unusual dishes here - unusual for the US but not... More

We ate there on a Saturday night and even though we didn't have reservations, they were able to seat us pretty quickly (the restaurant was pretty full). The servers were very good and knowledgeable. They were able to recommend a nice red wine for my partner and he enjoyed it so much he asked to write down the name (which... More
