Good Place to Grab a Quick Bite at Night

This place is a quality lunch spot that I'd recommend if you're up for some good, inexpensive (for DC at least) Mexican food at lunch time.

Found this Mexican restaurant just a short walk from the Washington Hilton. Walked in - nice family size restaurant with seating outside too. I ordered the Pollo Al Cilantro that was delicious. The waitress was very personable. Found out they are open all night! I've never heard of such a sit down restaurant being open until 6am. Food was so... More

My wife and I visited El Tamarindo for the first time in more than 20 years, bringing our daughter for her first visit. It was wonderful to see the restaurant still serving wonderful food with a family/friendly neighborhood vibe. We particularly enjoyed the El Salvadoran specialties, finding them very flavorful and well-prepared. Note that El Tamarindo is not a trendy... More

We were in town briefly and looking for some place interesting to meet up with friends. Our hometown doesn't have any El Salvadoran food, but the familiar Amerimex food would suit the 13yo (who declined to eat anyway...*eyeroll*) I loved the food, the presentation was a little "meh", but everything from the (I forget the name but essentially) El Salvadoran... We ate their one evening at 2000pm and it was still crowded. Received the chips and slightly watery salsa in no time together with the drinks but had to wait a while on the food. Food was good and good sized portions. Atmosphere seems authentic and restaurant has limited outdoor seating unfortunately taken when we arrived. I would return if... More

Great service and decor which made us feel comfortable. Once the food arrived, we were all impressed. We had a large group of 17 and everyone ordered a variety of menu items. You can't go wrong with any selection.

Decided to stop in for a "quick" bite which ended up being a 2 hour ordeal. My wife and I stood at the front for a good while before someone decided to come by and begrudgingly seat us. We got our drinks and ordered relatively quickly with a waitress who acted like she would rather play Russian roulette than wait... More

El Tamarindo on Florida Ave has been around a long time- It now has sister resturants The first attraction is that is stays open late-- very late 5 am on weekends????? and in the summer there is outdoor seating. The Margaritas are wonderful-any time of the year as for the food, some of the lesser tried entrees are the best.... More

Really enjoy coming here every year on Christmas with my family. The food is fresh and the staff is very pleasant. My kids loved it too.
