Great place to meet friends

We were in town briefly and looking for some place interesting to meet up with friends. Our hometown doesn't have any El Salvadoran food, but the familiar Amerimex food would suit the 13yo (who declined to eat anyway...*eyeroll*) I loved the food, the presentation was a little "meh", but... read more

We ate their one evening at 2000pm and it was still crowded. Received the chips and slightly watery salsa in no time together with the drinks but had to wait a while on the food. Food was good and good sized portions. Atmosphere seems authentic and restaurant has limited outdoor seating unfortunately taken when we arrived. I would return if... More

Great service and decor which made us feel comfortable. Once the food arrived, we were all impressed. We had a large group of 17 and everyone ordered a variety of menu items. You can't go wrong with any selection.

Decided to stop in for a "quick" bite which ended up being a 2 hour ordeal. My wife and I stood at the front for a good while before someone decided to come by and begrudgingly seat us. We got our drinks and ordered relatively quickly with a waitress who acted like she would rather play Russian roulette than wait... More

El Tamarindo on Florida Ave has been around a long time- It now has sister resturants The first attraction is that is stays open late-- very late 5 am on weekends????? and in the summer there is outdoor seating. The Margaritas are wonderful-any time of the year as for the food, some of the lesser tried entrees are the best.... More

Really enjoy coming here every year on Christmas with my family. The food is fresh and the staff is very pleasant. My kids loved it too.

This is really more El Salvadoran food but is similar to Mexican. Kind of expensive for this type of food. Although they do have Papusas for $2.50 each. Salsa was not great, really watery. Enchilada was good but enchilada meals are $13+ for two with rice and beans. It was good, average. Ambiance is authentic. Would probably try something else... More

Fine, basic Mexican food. Their chips and salsa are average, as is the food. I prefer nearby Lauriol Plaza and Casa Oaxaca much better in terms of food quality and atmosphere, but if you are looking for a bargain, please note they recently have been offering a Groupon ($20 for $40 worth of food).

Recently I had lunch with friends at El Tamarindo, and it was a pleasant experience. The food was good-enough to share or take home if I hadn't been so hungry. The atmosphere was relaxed and our waitperson did not hover over our table, as has been the case in near by eateries.

We've been here on our first night in DC for two years in a row. The margaritas are just what's needed after a long flight and guarantee a good night´s sleep in the fight against jet lag! And this time we were lucky to arrive early for Happy Hour. Our 2 margaritas, guacamole dip, taco de carnitas and banana empanada... More
