Very good Thai food in a neighborhood location

This was a nice little restaurant on the edge of an area with many bars and restaurants. The menu is standard American Thai food. We were a little disappointed that the whole fried fish was not available, as we were really looking forward to it. Having said that, the rest of the experience here... read more

Visited Washington D.C from Australia, first dinner we had was from Bua Thai, we ordered two Thai Bubble Teas, spring rolls, A Pad Thai and a Gang Nua (Beef curry), the drinks and entree was served within 10 minutes, the spring rolls were fresh, hot and crispy. Shortly after we had finished with the entree, our mains were served, the... More

Visiting Bua Thai after a 2 year absence, we found that it has lost a little of its appeal. Though the restaurant was empty at 5 PM, we were seated by the 2nd floor door going to the balcony overlooking P Street. Every time the waiters opened the door, we received a blast of air from the outside. The wait... More

Superb food, very friendly service, great price, cosy atmosphere. As it is on a side street near 17th, it is not crowded, but it would deserve more attention!!! Went back two times, love this place...

We came here the first night we got to Washington after a 5h bus ride. The place from the outside didn't seem promising (looked rather shabby), however when entering we were warmly welcomed and led onto the second floor. It looked surprisingly great: almost all the tables were already taken outside on the terrace (which had a nice atmosphere in... More

Bua is not fancy or flashy, but has some great food and good service too. The main dining area is upstairs and has an outdoor deck for use in good weather. The seats downstairs, where the bar is, are a bit low for this taller person. But it is also attractive. We have mostly gone for lunch. All the dishes... More

I had lunch and dinner there on an extremely cold February day, not many restaurant opened. the restaurant is small, the waiter is very polite. the food is in good quality however smaller than usual amount that you normally expected for lunch and dinner. The price is not that cheap consider the setting and location of the restaurant

Stopped in during happy hour. Great appetizer specials. I ordered some great green dumplings that I really enjoyed. Ordered a seafood dish that I liked, but the portion was kind of small. And the custard with fruit sauce was excellent. All in all, a good meal.

I thought the food was fresh and light. I find that some Thai restaurants put fish sauce in everything and are heavy handed about it. I didn't find that the case with Bua Thai.

We visited because of the Trip Advisor rating (top 100 of over 2000 restaurants in the City) and our love of Thai food. Consistent with previous reviews the service was good and the restaurant a little tired. However the experience overall was disappointing as we went on a Saturday evening and expected a busy restaurant with atmosphere - instead it... More
