We were on the DC trolley in the Georgetown area when the driver told us about Martin's. JFK proposed to Jackie in a booth there. We were close to the ending time for the trolley and knew we wouldn't make it back to where the vehicle was by trolley. Since we would have to pay for a cab anyway, we... More

We just visited, and finally walked out. The host was rude telling us we could only sit outside if we were both ordering a full dinner even though most of the seats were available, and after 15 minutes after being seated (the servers were too busy watching soccer), we finally walked out. Our waiter never even came to our table.

The service was shocking first trying to get someone to take an order and then trying to get served. We went in for a drink and nearly walked out twice.

We went here on our first night in Georgetown with our 7 and 12 year olds. Every booth was linked to a president somehow and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. One of the obvious "men in charge" came and sat with us for awhile explaining the historical significance and background of the tavern. The food was delicious! French... More

Went there upon recommendations from a Georgetown DC by Foot Guide. It was nice from the historical perspective (Pres Kennedy used to eat there with Jackie) and it has a nice atmosphere. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage (one of their specialties) and was disappointed--almost no flavor at all. MY husband ordered a hamburger and it was OK. There... More

We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday with our 2 big labs in tow and we were immediately seated on the patio. Our waiter brought out water containers for both dogs which was much appreciated. The bison burger and the roasted toasted turkey sandwich were excellent, as was the fried shrimp and calamari. Our pups even got some french... More

This is the last old-fashioned tavern left in Georgetown. Food is excellent in an old style. Portions are good. Wait staff is attentive. Drinks are delicious. A place to go if you'd like to have a relaxing American meal and drink. Been around forever. And you can sit in the same seat were President Kennedy proposed to his wife Jacqueline... More

We came from out of town to Georgetown for a funeral and afterwards 6 of us wanted to have dinner together. Martin's was convenient and was a good choice. We first had drinks and were never rushed through a relaxing dinner. Everyone ordered something different and all seemed pleased with their choices. We first shared two orders of fried calamari... We loved the ambiance, we felt special to sit in the Harry Truman booth. You can feel the history of this tavern. The food was excellent. Our waiter had zero personality and seemed bothered to have to serve us, but we still loved our experience.
