Excellent food, warm service and tons of history in this great Georgetown tavern. For history there's the obvious booths named for the people who frequented them before rising to historic fame (JFK, Nixon, LBJ, etc.), but there's also the local history of being in an established neihborhood for decades. The lambchops with mint jelly are fantastic as is the shephards... More

There seems to have been a lot of recent criticism about Martin's Tavern that we didn't think was perhaps a fair ...... bearing in mind that the attitude of the diners can go a long way as to how cooperative the restaurant staff are. The table allocated was not going to work for our group - we wanted a quieter... More

Overall, this well-known tavern is merely average in all aspects. The atmosphere is from days ago, but that adds a little charm to this establishment. The tap beer selection is poor, and the food is merely "okay" but expensive. Not sure I would return.

This restaurant is in the perfect location, and it is delightful to sit outside on a nice night. I had the Delmonico steak special ($34.95), which was very good, but served very rare, while I ordered it medium rare. The onion soup ($8.95) was delicious. The filet mignon ($34.95) was over-cooked, but still tasted good. The Chocolate Awesome hot lava... More

Well to be honest, it was a bit of an anti-climax for us. The food was nice but I think we had too high expectations. The service was really good and it was kool to see the jfk proposal booth but that's about it.

Food was ok, but the sauvignon blanc was flat, without taste. Bill was incorrect, but corrected upon request. Service was slow and incorrect, from uninterested personnel, nothing special, despite that Nixon might have liked this treat.

The French toast and bacon with maple syrup was superb. Kids enjoyed the pancakes. Friendly service and reasonably priced. So good we went back the next day.

We came for the ambience and were bowled over by the service and cuisine. Welsh rarebit starter felt like decadence on the left bank and the dish of the night - fish and chips - best we've ever had. Old school style with a contemporary feel for what the crowd want - such a great way to end the night... More

This place could be charming but ends up just an overpriced meal with suboptimal service. I was with a group of ten diners which was a mistake because this place is meant for maximum parties of four or five. We ordered calamari & shrimp and potato skins as appetizers and for dinner had an assortment of dishes: Chicken Parmesan, Chicken... More

We were excited to visit this restaurant we didn't have second thoughts. We didn't even get to be seated the famous corner where JFK proposed to Jackie Bouvier. We had burger, onion soup, meat loaf, chicken pasta, chicken with Marsala and slow cooked porkloin if I remember it right. Burger was ordinary. Onion soup was ok. The one who ordered... More
