Very old bar with lots of famous guests over the years. The booths are named after patrons. jFK was a regular back in the day. Went for brunch, couldn't believe how good value it was. For the history and ambience definitely worth a visit.

One of my "go-to" places, I've eaten here probably 20 times in the past 10 years during frequent travel to DC. I've never had a bad meal or felt ripped off. Service is very good. Not a hot spot for a young crowd, but an understated dependable quiet place for middle-aged folks to get consistently good food (and drink), just... More

This is one of those restaurants were everyone famous has dined, and so we did too. Food was good, service was very good and the restaurant has a fun and interesting past to read about. Very tight, but that seems to be the norm inside DC restaurants.

We just stumbled into this tavern and were pleasantly surprised, wasn't sure at first when we arrived we were asked if we wanted the bar, we said sure since we hadn't planned on eating but the bar was full, went back to the hostess and said the bar is full. She said the tables are reserved for people ordering food.... More

I was here the other night for dinner. I ordered the shepherds pie. It was by far the greatest shepherds pie I have ever had. Service was very good and atmosphere was nice.

Lots of history with a nice menu.I had the ty Cobb salad. Excellent. Lots of interesting selections on the menu. Plenty of history also. I have been to DC many times and we tried it for the first time and will Definitely come back. Its not a big place. Call it cozy and homey. The waiter was really nice.

We went to this old and historic restaurant on New Year's Day and it was packed. The service was great, though. It is strange that drinks at the bar were more expensive than the table and we were not able to bring them to/from, but the overall experience was great. We had traditional English/Irish meals and were pleased.

Was in DC for on a work trip and found this place not far from the office and hotel. Grabbed a spot at the bar. The place is very busy even on a weeknight for dinner. Not all that large of a place inside but the small groups looked like they were having a great time and there are a... More

Went there on Saturday night, so expected a crowd, but this place was packed. Tables inches away from each other, bar standing room only, and they play loud music. Welch Rare Bit was good. Other food just average. Mixed drinks served in a tumbler, way too much mixer to alchohol ratio. If you want to be seen, this is probably... More

I love Martins. Placed in the heart of old George Town. It's a place where you can always find familiar faces. The best bartenders Alejandro and Johnny always put a smile on your face and provide great service. My favourite thing on the menu is the fried green tomatoes bison burger with steamed broccoli. Also a great choice is the... More
