Delicious food.

The restaurant itself is quite small but we did notice that some people were just picking up their food for takeout. The food was delicious and the people working their were kind. I would highly recommend.

I ate here after a co-worker had seen it on the Food Network. It did not disappoint. Signature dishes to try are the pork pupusa and chicken tamales. Delicious and very affordable, especially for DC.

Came to DC for vacation and had to come eat here. It's probably in my top 5 best foods of all times. Great job and can't wait to go back.

While visiting the Smithsonian museums we took a break and walked the mile (or so) to this cafe. The pupusas reminded me of those that I had while on vacation in El Salvador. The price for DC was very reasonable, $6.50 for a plate full of food.

then I'm applying for expat status. Mostly tasteless, mushy, and/or greasy. Kitchen is very slow, even on off-peak times. It's really cheap, but there are many better options nearby, and you should be able to find better Salvadoran via the Metro.

Tortilla Cafe is a wonderful little hole-in-the-wall that serves some of the best (and cheapest) food in the city. Service is quick and food is hot. The only slightly problematic thing is that Tortilla Cafe has limited seating, so when its busy, you might have to take your food to a nearby park instead of eating at the restaurant. (Although... Stopped for lunch after some tourist stuff. Very friendly greeting followed by fast food prep and excellent food. Portions were adequately matched to price. Business stayed steady throughout indicating populatity and fresh food. I would totally go again.

Awesome food, relaxed environment, your quintessential hole-in-the-wall underestimated restaurant. I could eat there everyday.

Visited on July 6th since it had been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Apparently it was mostly the latter as there was a sign on the door from the DC Department of Health saying restaurant was closed

This place is between Salvadorean and Honduran food. It's nice and small quick and great! Try their pupusas and carne asada. Good Latin food behind the hill! Go for it!
