My Wife and I were visiting DC on vacation & had actually saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives show on food network. Since we are fans of the show anyway we figured we would go to this place. It was OUTSTANDING! My Wife had the Papusas & I had the Tamales. They were without a doubt the... More

My wife and I were at the eastern Market and took a chance on Tortilla Cafe based on the number of stars we saw in reviews. We're glad we did. We ordered the cheese quesadilla and the burrito meal. Pros: Food was excellent and filling Price was outsatnding Service was quick and professional Cons: Nothing to speak of.

Tortilla Cafe is across from The Eastern Market. It's a small, hole in the wall, type of restaurant. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring your food. There is limited seating, but if you can get a table on the patio...it's great people watching. The food is really good. Their rice and beans were especially good.

Tried tamales, pupusas and salmon tacos. The place is very simple and unpretentious but great taste and fresh products. Will try it back!

I did research on this place years ago and finally made the trip with my family in tow (mom, wife and 4 kids). Food was awesome. Small little place with frugal prices. I would have paid double for their food. Service was very welcoming and we actual shut them down (Thanks for letting us stay beyond closing). We had 5... More

Little place. Order at counter and take to chairs. Excellent food. My daughter is Gluten Free and loves the food there. Met there for a business lunch that she met me at when I was in town. This Capitol Hill Southeast location is also just a couple doors away from a great Itialian place, but that is another review. Prices... More

My sister picked this place based on a segment of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. I cannot recommend this enough. Don't be put off by the hole in the wall appearance. The food is great. I had never had pupusas before. Now I've got to find a place close to home.

Quick walk from the Eastern Market. Small place with some tables inside and outside. Nothing fancy - paper plates and plastic silverware. Very reasonably priced with nice selection of choices which made it difficult to decide. Everything we ordered was very good and the portions were generous.

We went here because my husband had seen it on DDD, however it wasn't that good and not worth the hype. It wasn't terrible just not as good as we were expecting. One bad thing was that we paid extra for sour cream however it tasted bad. I brought it up and they confirmed it was bad but did not... More

I visited this place based on the reviews, (this was my first time in DC). The food was very good. I had the salmon fajitas, very tasty. The lettuce tasted a little bitter, but other than that I was pleased with all our food. I also tasted the tamales & pupusas- very yummy. Latin food tends to be greasy, not... More
