Great place for a casual meal.

We had been looking forward to trying this place so after visiting Eastern Market we did! We were not disappointed. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out. Saw this on DDD and wanted to try it. We were at the Eastern Market on a Saturday and stopped in here for lunch. Very small & extremely busy. We were lucky to get a table. Service was fast & friendly. You order at the counter & they give you a number and bring the food to you. Tamales were... More

Food was actually very good. Hole in the wall, for sure. Good lunch place. No need to dress up to eat here.

I love this place! The sandwiches, papusas, tamales and sides all are delicious. Drink the house made horchata and you will keep coming back. You have to love any good restaurant in DC where you can have lunch for under $10.

I saw this place on DDD and wanted to try it out. I never had Salvadorian food before and was very excited to try it out. We ordered a bunch of things so we can try them: pupusas, empanada, yucca y chicharrones, Cuban sandwich. Chicharrones is not what it is supposed to be. It tasted fine, but it is not... More

My wife and I stopped by here for a quick late lunch after site seeing and just prior to heading to the airport. It was our last meal in DC before flying back home. Like many I'd heard about this place on DDD and was curious to try it out. The manager was extremely friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Since it... More

We visited Tortilla Cafe for lunch based on Guy Fieri's DDD stop. This shop is small but big on flavor, service, and value. It's in a cute little Capitol Hill neighborhood, an easy 5 minute walk to/from a Metro stop. Me and my husband had a cheese papusa platter and my son had beef nachos. Every bite was delicious and... We've been several times and only had the Salvadoran so I can't comment much on the Mexican dishes. The pupusas, platanos, and assorted other sides are always fantastic though. The maracuya juice is great too!

This small Salvadorian restaurant, located just across the Eastern Market, is a good place to have tasty and cheap pupusas. We ordered a combo of pork and cheese pupusas with fried yucca and the Salvadorian breakfast that comes with scrambled eggs, 2 tortillas, refried beans and plantains. Everything was tasty. Next time I'll try the vigoron. Good value for money.

We chose this off of DDD Flavortown and are glad we did!!! In every sense of the word this is a neighborhood dive (treasure)!!! Don't let the interior or paper plates fool you...this is great food at unbelievably low prices. We tried the cheese and pork pupusa...yummy! My son said the steak fajitas were the best he ever had!!! The... More
