We like to follow Guy Fieri's suggestions when we travel so we had to try this place when we visited the Eastern Market. It was very crowded but we were able to order & find a table pretty quickly. Food was delivered quickly also. Tamale plate was was good, hubby liked the beans. I ordered the pupusas, very good. Perfect... More

We got the idea to go here from Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. The appearance of the actual place would fall under the dive catagory. Getting a seat was tricky but doable. There was outside seating but it was a little too chilly for us. It is like a takeout type of Mexican restaurant with odd seating located near Eastern Market... More

As an avid fan of "Diners, Drive-In's and Dives", I did a bit of research before visiting the USA. After a hot, exhausting walk around some of the fantastic sights around Washington D.C., we headed here for lunch. Tables were busy out front and there was a little queue, even though it was after the usual lunch rush. The staff... More

Found the little Tortilla Cafe on a visit to Eastern Market. So glad I did! Really great tortillas, tacos and sandwiches, wonderful flavours and amazingly affordable prices. Hope I get to go back sometime.

Authentic food, served by friendly people. We loved everything we had. Sauces are tasty. Empanadas were tender and delicious.

Looked kind of "divey" on the outside. Clean and courteous inside. Food was well priced, portioned, and very good. If your in the area a good spot for lunch or take out.

My Wife and I were visiting DC on vacation & had actually saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives show on food network. Since we are fans of the show anyway we figured we would go to this place. It was OUTSTANDING! My Wife had the Papusas & I had the Tamales. They were without a doubt the... More

My wife and I were at the eastern Market and took a chance on Tortilla Cafe based on the number of stars we saw in reviews. We're glad we did. We ordered the cheese quesadilla and the burrito meal. Pros: Food was excellent and filling Price was outsatnding Service was quick and professional Cons: Nothing to speak of.

Tortilla Cafe is across from The Eastern Market. It's a small, hole in the wall, type of restaurant. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring your food. There is limited seating, but if you can get a table on the patio...it's great people watching. The food is really good. Their rice and beans were especially good.

Tried tamales, pupusas and salmon tacos. The place is very simple and unpretentious but great taste and fresh products. Will try it back!
