Medium beer selection with a comfortable atmosphere. Good burgers, great fries, friendly and helpful staff. It is all comfort food, nothing fancy.

My friend won a free happy hour here and read all the great reviews. Very overrated. It was packed, the food wasn't good and the service was rude.

Had a Groupon for it, so we had to try this place out...The groupon was good for two brunch entrees and 2 mimosas. We arrived at their opening time of 11am (reservations for 11am) to find a medium size crowd outside with the doors still locked. After about 5 minutes and some knocking a less then enthusiastic hostess came to... More

Food was brought out cold. We were told we did not need a reservation when we called, yet when we got there, we were told we had to schedule a reservation & had to wait an extremely long period. We purchased a livingsocial deal- in which my card was charged anyway & the deal was not used. What was the... More

Quiet bar and good atmosphere either for lunch or after work happy hour. I enjoyed the selection of burgers and I used a Groupon so I got to eat for two for the price for one. Would most likely visit again.

We used a brunch coupon here. I'm no a big home fries fan, but these were outstanding. Monte Cristo was huge and delicious. My husband thought the eggs Benedict were very good. Only tiny negative I would say is that my dish was only lukewarm. Very nice serving staff too.

Sign is a typical college bar where GW, American, and maybe some Georgetown students will be overtaking on any typical thursday, friday, and saturday. The whale pails (large pails of drinks) are great. This is not a place for a date or a casual drink with a friend. Its not super clean, girls dance on the benches, and there is... More

This is a typical dive bar... not a bad place to grab a drink before heading elsewhere if you're looking for a low key night out with friends.

Been around for quite awhile. Still a great saloon. One of the best burgers served in DC and a friendly bar staff

Sign of the Whale used to be a great little place for lunch or happy hour. After a few years absence from this area, I stopped in today and was floored by what I found. The place is simply ratty. All the seats are torn, the floor filthy and the decor can best be described as seedy. Ordered iced tea,... More
