My friend and I were looking for something relatively quick to eat and drink prior to going to the theater. We approached Shelly's because it didn't seem too crowded as compared to the other two bars we investigated. We had an hour before the show. We entered the place ( two women) and discovered quickly that it was a cigar... More

Went here for a late night dinner and cigar. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. As a cigar aficionado, I could appreciate the decor but thought they could do a better job with the ventilation. Nonetheless the drinks and foods are not overpriced but the food choices are limited. The waitresses were very nice and complied with my every... More

Stopped by Shelly's after dinner for a drink and a cigar. Certainly not the most inexpensive venue to have a drink, but when you combine the beautiful décor, full bar and tasty cigars.....it is always on my to do list when I am in DC. Folks are always nice and service is always great. No complaints here!

We'd spent a few hours walking and visiting the monuments & memorials and wanted a place to sit and relax over beers... this was a great place to do it. The beer selection was varied and the service was fast, cold beverages arrived still frosty. We chose to sit in the non-smoking dining room and it was truly smoke free.... More

I had some afternoon hours to kill before I could check into my hotel and get dinner. Shelly's provided the ideal place to camp out, have a few drinks and smoke a cigar. Thankfully, I had my own cigars because they do charge a premium for their offerings.

My hubby and I came on a Saturday. 1st time for the both of us. It was really nice. The place was spacious, and the ventilation was superb, which meant a lot to me. The food was delicious and the drinks were just right. We brought our own cigars with us, but their cigars were good also. Next time, I'll... More

So we were staying for 10-11 days in DC and were becoming quickly and thoroughly aware of just how wussified the place is in terms of the nanny state living up to it's growing reputation as a scalding schoolmarm wagging her finger at us for any behavior that she, allegedly, would never ever do. Seriously, the nightlife in DC is... More

The tonic they serve is flat and lifeless, so vodka and tonic tasted like vodka and water. Sent it back, exactly the same 2nd time. And they charge 18% service on groups of 5, automatically added (which is fine), but they calculate the 18% of the TOTAL bill including tax, so effectively 20% on the food and drink - sly... More

Living just outside DC I travel into the city on a regular basis. One day I stumbled upon this place which had outside seating so I sat down and ordered an El Diablo burger and Sierra Nevada. The burger was amazing and I would highly recommend trying it

I did not go here to eat. I went to smoke a cigar and have a couple drinks while I waited out rush hour. It was a good decision. If you don't have cigars with you they have a nice selection. They are more than you would pay in a cigar shop but I think that is to be expected.... More
