Great German Food

If you in DC in the Capitol Hill area try Cafe Berlin! This is very good German food, and it's very german. I know that is strange but it's like you in Germany. Service was very good. They have a really nice bear garden that would be great fun in the summer. Try the Sauerkraut balls, they are... read more

I originally went to this restaurant about 5 years ago on my visit to DC. I made sure I went back on this visit. Great German food at prices I would expect. Also had a great beer on tap. Good stuff. The wait staff was fantastic. I walked from Union station around 8pm and it is about three blocks away... More

My son (age 16), husband, and I stopped in for dinner this evening. I was a little apprehensive because I do not tend to like meat, though both my husband and son do. Dinner was perfect for all of us. My husband had the wild boar ragout and my son had the venison schnitzel, both from the wild game menu,... More

We came here for a few drinks right before closing and the people serving were great! Great service for closing time and they just finished hosting a large party. The beer was delicious and came in giant mugs. We orderes their pretzels and bier cheese; pretzels were good, bier cheese was too bland for me. I would come here again... More

There are so many good restaurants in DC, but Cafe Berlin will always be one of my favorites. The menu is full of authentic German choices - I try something new every time, and have never once been disappointed. They also have some excellent German beer and wine options. The staff is always very attentive and efficient. Overall, an excellent... More

Came into Cafe Berlin on a cold damp afternoon for lunch, but when I saw the wild game menu I changed my mind. I had a wonderful parsnip soup to start and then the wild boar ragout. Both were flavorful and very well prepared. I had a nice glass of reasonably Zweigelt to accompany the ragout. No room for dessert,... More

Made reservations for Christmas dinner and was not disappointed. A truly authentic German meal with wonderful choices. The staff could not have been anymore efficient. Especially loved the baked brie, potato pancakes and the schnitzels. So many desserts to choose from and could not even finish ours! I did make reservations way ahead of time and they do take a... I love German and eastern European food. A lot of places try to do it, but do a poor job of properly representing it. Cafe Berlin makes everything (EVERYTHING) from scratch, and the quality shows. We took the family there on a recent trip, and everyone found something to like. Appetizers of pretzels were quite good, I could have eaten... More
