Description: Charlie Palmer Steak Washington DC, located in the United Brotherhood of...
Charlie Palmer Steak Washington DC, located in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters building, is dedicated to another fine master craft: big, bold American food. Under the direction of Executive Chef Jeffery Russell, a Culinary Institute of America graduate whose interest in agriculture and aquaculture is rooted in his early years living in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York, the menu not only stars the best American artisan beef cuts like an aged Angus Rib-eye "Cowboy" Steak but updated locally sourced seafood combinations, like Five Spice Carolina Shrimp with Quinoa, Pomegranate, Fennel, Feta and Marcona Almond. Much more than a steakhouse, the timelessly stylish restaurant moves the political power meetings out of the back room and into private dining spaces, sleek enclaves of dark wood where gathering around the table gets things done in the best possible way. Located off the wide, open expanse of the National Mall, Charlie Palmer's Steak's rooftop terrace can accommodate 400 guests, offering the city's most impressive view of the Capitol.

Great View of Capital

Great view of the Capital through the massive windows in the main dining room. The food was quite good and the service was good. However, I would actually give the restaurant a 3 1/2 rating for two reasons: First, the restaurant was absolutely stunning when I was last there about 4 years... read more

I've been to many different steakhouses over the years, and Charlie Palmer in DC ranks right up at the top of my list of favorites. My monthly dinner group is hoping to make this our new go-to restaurant, and our first experience in the private dining room was truly exceptional. The cocktail and wine list (which only offers American wines... More

I lived in D.C. for 25 years and spent most of that time in politics. And the last few years at a high level in politics, then a partner in a lobbying firm. Those were the days when expense accounts were abundant and certain restaurants opened to cater to those that wanted to see and be seen. Plus, it's proximity... More

If you're looking for the best steak in DC, head over to Charlie Palmer's. It's the place to rub elbows with leaders and lobbyists of America. The wine selections are extensive and sides can be shared. Not cheap, but way worth the money

Hands down, Charlie Palmer offers the best cut of meats in D.C. It also has a fine selection of choice scotchs and bourbons. I personally recommend Pappy Van Winkle which is hard to find in D.C. Now they are known for their steak but the fish special is always a great dish as well.

I frequent Charlie Palmer steak about 4 times a year. A beautiful, sleek and modern dining room. The food is delicious. Burgers are very popular as are the crab cakes and steak salads for lunch. Dessert is not to be missed, so be sure to leave a little room! They have an extensive wine list. Staff is extremely accommodating and... More

I was very happy when a work associate made reservations here. I had not previously been and was looking forward to it given all that I had heard about it. It did not live up to the hype and it did not live up to the basic requirements of a good steak house. The decor was lovely and as some... More

The food is good but not standing out from other steakhouses. Our party ordered three fillets, all cooked medium. Each one was cooked differently, from medium rare to medium well. One would expect perfection in cooking temperature from a high end steakhouse. The sides were excellent and more memorable than the steaks. Also worth noting the sides are "shareable" as... More

Only a fool would go to Mr. Palmer's steak house and fail to order steak. My wife and I share the Porterhouse for two. My only regret is spilling a drop of sauce on my tie (both b/c I now need to get my tie cleaned and b/c I missed one more taste of heaven.) The bacon/truffle stuffed potato was... More

This is my favorite restaurant in DC--great food, service and ambiance. There steak is always prepared to order, the sides are delicious and desserts (if you save room) are great. The service is always excellent. Ask for a table with a Capitol view. And it is BYOB if you bring in American wine. It is a pricey restaurant, but well... More
