Interesting and Unusual

The restaurant may well be worth a trip fir those who like to experiment and branch out. Nothing is "ordinary" and the flavors are intriguing. The appetizers and honey wine are delightful, but the main meal is the highlight of the trip. An array of spices, meats and vegetarian "dips" are piled onto... read more

I've never had Ethiopian before but enjoy ethnic floods and spicy foods There were four of us and since it was a newish experience we order the sampler for four people. It was advertised as four meats and several vegetable dishes. We got a large plater with three of the smallest chicken legs I've ever seen, three hard boiled eggs... More

We ate at Meskerem in April 2015, and it was delicious. The restaurant is child-friendly, and sitting upstairs on the round cushions delighted my little nephews. Food is served family style, and is both delicious and abundant. We ordered meat and chicken dishes, but vegetarians would also enjoy Meskerem as the vegetable-based dishes are numerous and tasty. We will definitely... More

I really liked this place. The street that it's in has lots of bars and restaurants. The food was really good. The service was fast and polite. They got one or two drink orders wrong. But after we pointed this out they were happy to correct their mistake without any complaining.

The food was great, and the service was excellent. I recommend getting some warm tea with your meal, its some of the best Ive ever had. One of the best restaurants in Adams Morgan.

It was good food but there are better Ethiopian food available. No harm in trying though! Good service and does get crowded at dinner time.

It was years since had an Ethiopian meal and Adams Morgan seems the place to do it. The two of us ordered a sampler for one and then an additional two dishes. All the food comes on a puffy bread and there are plates of the same soft pita-like bread to pick up the food with. after a while had... More

The second level is more quiet and secluded. Food is very typical Ethiopian cuisine but just an average in flavor.

We went as a group of 7 and had a good time at Meskerem. Reasonable (but small) wine list and several Ethiopian beers to choose from. The appetizers were quite good and our waitress was very pleasant. However, the meal was largely average. Flavors were reasonable, but only the spice lamb was memorable. Needs more lentils and chick peas, not... More

Brought my husband and son to Meskerem for their first foray into Ethiopian food--success was mine! The food was yummy and plentiful--as always we shared everything and they were surprised at the the items they liked. Portions were good value for the money and service was very attentive. One downside is the wine list--awful and limited. Highly recommend they get... More
