Good Food and Music

Whilst staying in Washington my wife and I came across this Café which is at the back of a German delicatessen. Vey unique, the service, food and entertainment was excellent. Big meals with great flavor all whilst a live pianist is playing great classical music, a little surreal, though you will... read more

We have been here twice now and I wanted to post a review until I could figure out what was missing. Pro: - Food was good - Live Music - Great wine Con: - Service was slow - The room was very commercial feeling so it lost that German feel - Plates/Silverware/Glasses felt very cheap and dinner like. Overall the... More

When I read the reviews saying it was a deli and restaurant, I thought along the lines of Zum Stammtisch in Queens, NY which has store made as well as european and other brands of wurst and delicacies and a distinctly german feel. I was disappointed to walk into a dimly lit deli with limited selection. We walked through to... More

I wanted to like this eclectic German restaurant but it just teased and didn't deliver. An odd place behind a Deli stocked with German and EU goods. After passing through the deli you pass through the bar and then the restaurant. Pianist started around 6:45. Place was pretty loud as the noise from happy hour in the bar was distracting.... More

I stopped in for dinner solo on a Sunday night. The place was pretty empty, though I didn't go into the dining room to see how many diners were there. In part, I was not too interested in the oompah band that was playing. I wanted some German food! I ordered the wienerschnitzel ala Holstein. The first serving was very... More

If you are in the mood for German food, you can't go wrong with Café Mozart. We had very good service, the helpings generous and the pricing reasonable. Would definitely go there, if I visit DC again.

Great german, austrian and hungarian food. Large portions reasonably priced. Scrumptious authentic desserts. Try the poppyseed cake --just like my grandma used to make for holidays.

We went there with our grandchildren . We all ordered different entrées. I had sauerbraten which was made in the traditional way, marinated for several days, not just a pot roast with gravy poured over it. The service was very friendly. We had an excellent waitress who was attentive to all our needs without appearing to be hovering.

This is a wonderful authentic German style restaurant. We lived in Germany, and this is the real deal. Be sure to check the events link on their web page, and attend on a night when there is music, usually by accordion, just like it is in Germany. The real wines, beers, food and German accordion music to liven up the... More

My family and I know German food -- and the Cafe Mozart's simply is not up to snuff. Our recent lunch party of three ordered the sauerbraten, the pork loin and the sausage platter. Respectively, our meat was tough, tough and gamey. The tasteless potato salad side dish was not worth the extra price. Even the potato pancake which accompanied... More
