Excellent food

Stopped here after touring many of the Holiday sights in DC this past weekend on Sunday evening. The front of the building on H street is a German deli-small grocery store and the back is a nice quant restaurant. A very wide selection of choices of German dishes and we had two great dinners... read more

Casual dining, variety of German/Austrian food (not just sausages), excellent meals, live piano music (mix from the Mozart era), friendly atmosphere, excellent service. The restaurant is hidden in the back after you go through a small store / deli with chocolates, deserts, etc. in the front -- the restaurant is clearly separated from the door.

We ate at Cafe Mozart on Christmas Eve. As travelers from out of town, we had no previous experience but wanted to give it a try as we love trying different ethnic foods. We were not disappointed!! The service was spectacular and very welcoming. The food was the most spectacular Austrian and German fare that we've had in the states.... More

I have travelled throughout Austria and Germany for over a month combined. Cafe Mozart ranks as high as the best restaurants I visited during my travels. The prices are slightly high but comparable to similar places abroad and in DC. The food is authentic and phenomenal as is the good beer selection. The atmosphere is elegant and intimate, lovely. The... More

From the street, this looks like a small deli/convenience shop. The restaurant is through the deli, in the back. The menu consists entirely of authentic, quality German and Austrian cuisine.

It's maybe average diner food. No real Germany flare inside We were the only people in here, hint. Coffee came out warm and light. Toast was COLD and dry, butter I think was warmer. Eggs Bercy 1 sausage extremel dry, I'm guessing was not germany. No taste. Also had French toast 3 slices, just average. Also had a cheese omelet... More

The waiter (or owner) did not care about our complaint about cold food and coffee. We went to this place for breakfast hoping for a great food after reading all the great reviews. My husband had Egg Bercy which was scrambled eggs with homefries and frozen a tiny piece of sausage (supposed to be Nuremberg sausage but most likely something... More

I walked half a mile to get here because I was hoping for a delicious black forest cake that I didn't have to make myself. But when I looked at it in the case, it just did not look good at all. You could see that they had used stabilized whipped cream. It also looked like shelf stable whipped cream... More

This was my first visit and was a little disappointed with my meal. I ordered the lunch special, a schnitzel sandwich with a mixed salad. The schnitzel was a little dry and could have been seasoned more for my taste. The thick white bun was more than I could eat, so I ate the schnitzel and left the bun. The... More

Every time we are in Washington D.C., we try to have dinner here. We have traveled in Austria and Germany a number of times and the food at this restaurant is authentic. The atmosphere in the dining room reminds me of eating in Vienna. I have difficulty choosing between the Wiener Schnitzel and other things on the menu and usually... More
