Very good overall

Great octopus, adequate asparagus soup, very good steak, and decent desserts in a nice setting with attentive and friendly staff. Dinner for two (with wine) at ~$100 pp.

Some cosmetic changes and a new Chef, Matteo Venini. Never fear though, Executive Chef Massimo Fabbri is still associated with Tosca and Venini has worked under him. Our dishes proved he has the kitchen at his fingertips! The selections will make your life extremely difficult because you will want one of each; personally I start with the foie gras which... More

I realize that others have had a mixed experience with both the food and the wait staff, but we had a wonderful experience on both counts. Someone suggested that diners dress "smart casual" for this restaurant, but that was not our experience at a Friday dinner in mid-August, high tourist season. Our host and I both wore polo shirts, and... More

Old fashioned decor, dimly lit ( so many restaurants like this in Washington). We were told dress was smart but actually most diners were casually attired, Sever started out surly but warmed and became very nice and helpful and knowledgeable about the wine.  Italian menu with some interesting specials. Our party enjoyed the delicious fresh peach salad and the excellent... More

A great buzz to the place. I have now been 6 or so times. It does not disappoint. Great Italian food love the veal, great service and splendid wine selection. You are far enough apart to have good conversation too.

Forget about this place if you're in Washington. I went there a week ago and it was horrible AND expensive as hell. The maitre d' looks like a goon from a gangster movie and I had this feeling it would be a total rip off. Food was lousy, small portions and they're all over you to order more...Lots of better... Nice atmosphere, a little slow with the service, tater tots was a specialty...not sure why??? Large portions but the burger and portabella mushroom sandwiches were a bit messy to eat.

Mom and I can be picky but no complaints about this place. Valet parking was a plus. Everything we've ordered has been exceptional. I'm vegetarian and found multiple options. Waitstaff very attentive. Wine suggestions on target. When we needed to get to the theater on time meal was timed perfectly. Other time we enjoyed a leisurely dinner. I have recommended... More
