LaTomate is a staple of the area of upper Dupont Circle for 27 years, and recently opened this side cafe just for early morning coffee pastries, and light bites for lunch and dinner. They new design of this separate entrance is beautiful, and provides a nice quite location away from the busy hustle & hassle of other coffee bars in... More

We had dinner here one night. Loved the location. Was nice to sit inside and look out at the city. I had the trout and it came with grilled zucchini. You don't get a lot of extras. But the portions are filling. There was bread and oil on the table. Overall, will definitely go back. Close to the Dupont Circle... More

We enjoyed eating outside on our last evening in Washington, DC. The prosciutto platter was lovely, as was my light tomato-mozzarella-basil salad (I was not in the mood for a heavy dinner that night). My husband had a seafood pasta special that was excellent as well, and our son had a very buttery plain pasta, perfect for a 6-year-old. The... More

We went to this restaurant this past Saturday night after hearing about it from another member of our party. He frequently travels to DC on business and this was one of 5-6 restaurants that came off the top of his head when I asked him for a recommendation. We went without reservations and were seated within a few minutes at... More

We visited here in August 2014 for our last meal in Washington as a family. We were looking for somewhere quite nice for our last night and this hit the spot. The food itself is excellent with a good selection of Italian classics and a wide variety of pasta was available. There was also a nice selection of drinks and... More

We love this place. The location is such fun on a great corner. We got the best table outside on the point of the triangle shaped eating area. We got the appetizer board (meats & cheeses) and shared a squid pasta. Was lovely! The wait staff is very good and there's comraderie with the other people eating there. Just perfect!

After a long day of visiting, La Tomate was a good refuge. Good food with a different twist to the usual Italian and nice service.

Our hotel recommended this place and it looked nice from the outside. We ordered three of the specials which was a chicken dish which came with nothing-no salad and no pasta. We ended up ordering pasta which cost $8 each! The small side pasta was not worth $8. Also, the chicken dish was small and was mostly bones with some... More

We love La Tomate and have been going there for many many years. We were there on a gorgeous low humidity evening in DC and ate on their outdoor terrace. There was lots to look at as people passed by. We started with the mixed salumi and cheeses on a charcuterie board - delicious and a great value. Then we... More

This place seems to have gotten a bit worse in terms of its service. I remember coming a few years ago, and the restaurant being top notch in terms of food and service. We just went last night during restaurant week and the service was very slow and inattentive. The food was good, but certainly nothing special. However, the atmosphere... More
