We struggled to find somewhere appealing to eat in the area, and this restaurant has wonderful full length windows with lots of sunshine flowing in, so we decided to give it a chance. The food was ok - cheese on the cheese board was average, prosciutto was actually nice, the ravioli was pretty bland. It wasn't bad, bit it wasn't... More

I am not a huge fan of Italian restaurants but this place converted me… I had one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had (Linguine). Service was a bit on the odd side (the waiter didn’t seem to speak much English or didn't understand our South African accents) and we waited a while to be seated but in the... More

This place has nothing but location that's good about it. Waiters were not particularly helpful, seats felt crammed and the food was definitely average. I definitely did not feel welcome at this place. If you're looking for a place to enjoy yourself with a good meal, look around: Lots of other places to try out.

Location, great ! Outside Terrace, Great ! Food, Very Tasty ! Service - Fawlty Towers almost.... What a lovely place and what great potential. Had two meals there...the first meal they completely forgot our drinks, but at least didn't charge us for them. The second time around we got what we ordered but waited 22 mins for the drinks...they were... More

This place was perfect for me. Out of town on business and eating alone at the bar. I was comfortable, got to watch baseball, enjoyed nice service, and ate well. It was a perfect end to a busy week. I have eaten there before. They are very consistent.

I was on my own in DC for business ad stumbled across La Tomate. I knew that when i greeted the host in Italian and he responded also in Italian that I might have found a gem. It's really quite lovely! The room was warm and atmospheric and the food both authentic and reasonably priced. The service was brisk but... More

we were staying at the DuPont circle hotel for a few days. The first night we were tired and just wanted a good relatively inexpensive meal. The hotel concierge recommended La Tomate just a couple blocks away. We couldn't have been more pleased. Good food, good beer and wine ( limited selection) and pleasant service. We enjoyed it so much... More

This is a lively restaurant with good food, good wine and compared to others around it pretty good value. On the downside, our server bizarrely did not bring one starter to the table and we had to ask for it, but it then appeared with the main course. The large sign on the door seeking servers and hosts became suddenly... More
