I arrived mid-evening on a Friday, fresh off a plane, tired and hungry. They found me a table (for one) right away - upstairs, where there are many more seats. Service wasn't the speediest, but it wasn't so slow either (given that the place was really busy). The food was fine: I was tired enough that I don't recall what... More

This is a must for me every time I visit DC. Always a very pleasant experience. Good food, great cold cuts - love the olives. It is not trying to be cordon bleu and therefore priced accordingly, but that's not necessary for a great food experience. The staff that care and the ambiance is wonderful.

The service was excellent and very attentive. We sat in the windowed bar area and it was so, so pleasant there. The food was some of the best italian that I have had outside of Italy. A kale tortelini was delish and the Caesar was excellent. We almost didn't go there because of the garish sign that makes it look... More

We stopped in for an appetizer and a couple of glasses of Chianti. The meat and cheese platter was delicious. I experienced some new types of cheeses and salami (new to me at least) and was very happy. Sitting there with a window seat watching the hustle and bustle outside on a rainy day was delightful. The service was very... More

We visited La Tomate after reading the reviews and were disappointed to find mediocre service and poor food. Our waiter was surly (and seemed to take pride in it) - we ordered pasta mains which were fine. Nothing to write home about but perfectly acceptable. Throughout the entire meal our waiter was seemingly perfecting a brutish persona - and succeeding!... More

My wife and I met our future daughter-in-law at La Tomato on December 1, 2014 for a late lunch - 1:30. We spent 2 1/2 hours there with an unrushed and delicious meal. My wife and our son's fiancé had seafood linquini and I had the free range chicken. All were good size meals and all were fantastic. I really... More

La Tomate at Dupont Circle is an authentic Italian dining experience. I met two friends for dinner, and it was a perfect dining experience. I had the tortelli which is homemade ravioli-style pasta with a filling of Swiss chard, ricotta & parmesan; butter & sage sauce. Excellent and filling. One of my friends had Tagliatelle which also looked very appetizing.... More

Wonderful service with casual dining in or outside on veranda. Diverse menu with excellent appetizers and cocktails. Carlos bartender is old school with charm and a smile for every guest, rare these days. Fine service is propelled by GM Jonathan. Consistent quality.

We are staying near Dupont Circle and found this place while out walking. I thought the food was really really good. The pasta was perfect - al dente and the sauce or filling perfect. The finale was the dessert we chose, a simple greek yogurt with fruit and honey. I've fixed this at home, but this was superb.
