This place ran cold and hot... Finding it was a bit of an adventure; there don't appear to be any signs on the street and the restaurant is upstairs. Looks like an apartment door. After being seriously excited about going to Obelisk for the first time after all of the great reviews and recommendations from friends I left with mixed reviews. My wife and I walked in at 8:28 for our 8:30 reservation and were told our table wasn't ready yet have a seat at the bar. That would not have been an issue... More

Our first visit to Obelisk was an experience warranting praise. The menu is well planned and executed, and the staff is friendly and more than expert in their attention to detail and service. We opted for the wine pairings which were well described and perfect to accompany the food. Knowing that the menu changes either daily or weekly means we... More

This is our third visit to Obelisk and even though the food was excellent I was disappointed in the food choices for the menu since it is a prix fixe menu for $75. There is a lot of food brought out to you that is not on the menu. Small plates of tastings which are quite enjoyable. The main entrée... More

Our second visit to Obelisk, and it was just as memorable as the first. There was a short menu of first and second courses. But before that began, the server brought a selection of antipasti that was spectacular. Burrata, a beet and radish salad, parmesan croquettes. My first course was a quail pasta that was outrageous, and the second was... More

This restaurant was recommended by a business contact to me and a colleague. It is tiny and we were lucky to get a table for two on a busy Friday after a day of meetings. We settled in, ordered a couple of negronis and set to perusing the menu. It slowly dawned on us under the guidance of the waitress... More

Absolutely stellar meal, attentive, amazing service from knowledgeable staff. Every course was a new adventure, and it was all so good. We had the wine pairings, and they were perfect.

Had a business dinner here and could not have been happier with the food and service. The space is small and not particularly warm or interesting however that is quickly ignored as the menu comes out and the specials recited for the evening. From start to finish the food was outstanding, delicious, flavorful, not pretentious in size but not too... More

My husband and I recently took a trip to DC as a bit of a getaway. We were surprised when just a week before our arrival, we were able to get a table at Obelisk. From other reviews I had read, it seemed as though it was very difficult to get into. Mainly because of the limited seating and the... More

This small fixed price restaurant was 5 stars. Three courses plus amuse bouche. Optional wine pairings available, or order by the glass/ bottle. Attentive service. Homemade pasta first courses, awesome veal chop for 2 for the entree, chocolate rice pudding. Hope to revisit when I'm in Washington again.
