Very high quality food. Some unusual dishes. Very friendly, helpful attentive service. Small, intimate setting, not stuffy. Excellent wine. We felt like very special guests at an elegant home. Very expensive, but worth it. Go when you have time to linger over a very special meal.

I don't want to mislead. This is not one of the best meals I've ever had in a restaurant, but Obelisk does reach five stars and merits the attention of diners seeking an extremely good experience. The setting is intimate, simple, and inviting. The service is friendly, professional, and responsive. The food is imaginative and well executed. The approach is... More

The menu and service were good, but did not live up to the rave reviews. We worked to slow down the delivery of items but were still done in an hour and 1/2. For $350+ for dinner and wine it felt too speedy. The waitress also seemed to have a tough night, very few smiles and lots of visiting and... More

Very small restaurant with no signage but worth the search. Limited menu but everything was delicious. Surprised antipasto served complimentary and is enough to feast on without ordering. Shrimp, veal sweetbreads, burrata, endless bread basket. Following that our party each had primi and secondi. Nothing disappointed. The roast suckling pig was scruptious. Great Italian white wine with it all. These... More

First, visit local farmers markets to find the freshest possible proteins and vegetables. Build that day's menu choices from those selections. No compromises! Cook as though your guests are Julia Child and Queen Elizabeth. Instruct your excellent staff in how to mind read diner wishes. Pat yourself on the back for being in the 2 percentile of restauranteurs who understand... More

The food was great in this tiny prix fixe dining establishment near Dupont Circle. It is expensive, but delicious, and we had a great bottle of wine with our meals. The staff is quite attentive but not overly so. Great experience for a special evening!

Up a flight of stairs with almost no identification is found a true jewel of real Italian cooking served by committed staff in a town house setting. The menu is small, changes daily, is as authentic as you can find in the States. Antipasti are multiple and served for the table usually anchored by a mound of burrata cheese in... More

Wonderful meal for a family celebration. Had the wine pairing and it was an excellent choice. The veal for two cut and served at the table was excellent. The wine pairings were varied and very good, with service being informative and unobtrusive. Highly recommended.

I loved the antipasti. I thought the first and second courses were very plain. There weren't any sauces or fresh herbs. The scallops an tagliolini were so blah - too many breadcrumbs, but no sauce on the past and no garlic taste. There were only 3 choices, one of which was pigeon. My husband doesn't like fish or pigeon so... More
