This is a great 'old establish' french restaurant. The food has always been superb and the staff to match. Tonight i had the tenderloins with lobster bisque. Both were excellent. My daughter had the peppercorn steak and vegetable soup. The apple tart with ice cream was a perfect ending to the meal.

Visited on New Years Eve for a pre theater dinner. It was the second year in a row. The food and service, especially the server, were excellent. The negative which affected the meal was the hostess. For a second year she was rude and unpleasant. If she owns the place, she is a permanent fixture, if not send her to... More

La Chaumiere was the favourite dining spot of the esteemed Julia Child. After years of absence, my husband and I from Toronto and my sister and brother-in-law from Boston discovered that the food, the staff, the ambience and the service have not changed a pea. The evening outside was nippy but inside there was a glorious wood fire burning. It... More

Looking for classic quenelles in lobster sauce? Choucroute? Dessert soufflés? Head to La Chaumiere, in Georgetown. It's one of the only places in DC where you can still get quenelles, and here they're like clouds of fish in a lobster sauce, served still bubbling from the oven. The choucroute and traditional cassoulet are available only on certain days (check the... More

OK, so there are newer French restaurants in the DC area, but this place is still great. And there is a better chance of snagging a reservation at the last minute. And there is discounted ($10 + tip) valet parking at the Four Seasons Hotel across the street. We had a delightful dinner there and look forward to going back... More

On a night out in Georgetown decided to make reservations last minute online for a late dinner.Rustic decor ,very cozy with a fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. Expansive wine selection. I highly recommend the baked oysters and fish stew. Typical of french restaurants food took some time to be prepared but the wait is well worth it. Loved... More

Early Tuesday evening plenty of tables available. The special was the seafood crepes. Very good. Combined with a nice Pino Grigio and the gran marinier soufflé prove to be an excellent meal.

Decided to do this 'classic' joint for a Saturday night date night. Food was pretty good, but just pretty good. My wife had oysters then tenderloin which was "Good. Very good." I had the lobster bisque which is done in the french style which I liked very much and the lamb that was prepared perfectly...but not very specially. The flour-less... More

Bustling and warm on a cold Saturday night. Great food and wine and very efficient service. Our first time here but it will not be the last. Thoroughly enjoyable.

We had dinner on Monday night before Verteran's Day and the place was packed. The food was excellent. The best French onion soup I ever had and the house special sausage were quite delicious. The whole meal was great from appetizers to the chocolate soufflé. Would definitely recommend this place. The place can be a bit noisy however.
