We took friends from LA to this wonderful French restaurant. While we had other delicious meals while in DC, this bistro was our favorite. Three of us had veal dishes (tender and flavorful) and the other had the cassoulet (meaty and delicious). The crispy potato chip garnish alone was worth the trip, proving that there is a great attention to... More

Onion soup ($9.50) lots of cheese. Had Duck breast ($25.00) which was very good and ample serving ordered glass of Zolo Malbec ($11.00) which I liked pre-ordered the grand mariner soufflé (20 minutes to prepare), let it cool a bit to get the full flavor. Real nice atmosphere. Crowd is the 1% mostly. Well dresses but one guy walked in... More

Eating at La Chaumiere in DC is a lot like being in a Parisian bistro, except there is no language barrier. The food is authentic French with some American options. We dined there recently and started with a salad of avocado and langoustine tail which was refreshing and delicious. As main courses, we both had a snapper special which was... More

When we arrived, we were told we would be seated in a few minutes, but then waited 15 minutes for the last member of our party to arrive - if a restaurant requires everyone to be there before seating the party, they should say so - either upfront, or at least when we arrived. A little slow in having the... More

Delicious traditional French cuisine. Not overpriced and well worth a visit. Good wine list and a delicious cosmopolitan finally!

We've been here a few times now. The food here is very good traditional french food. I particularly like the salmon in a pastry (i can't remember the exact name, but it's the only salmon dish on the menu). The service is exclellent if you get the older French lady as your server. The ambiance is nice if your downstairs,... More

We dined here last Saturday night. To say the food was great does not come close to the experience. The service was excellent, the seating, roomy, and the atmosphere charming. Get the lamb! WOW!

This well established French restaurant consistently serves very good, bistro-style food. The menu contains popular French classics in all categories: appetizers, soups, salads, main dishes and desserts. It also presents some excellent dishes rarely found in the US: calves liver, calves brain, and tripe. Preparations are competent and traditional. The wine list needs updating and more diversity. On busy nights,... More
