Excellent food, but some disappointments

When we arrived, we were told we would be seated in a few minutes, but then waited 15 minutes for the last member of our party to arrive - if a restaurant requires everyone to be there before seating the party, they should say so - either upfront, or at least when we arrived. A little slow in... read more

Delicious traditional French cuisine. Not overpriced and well worth a visit. Good wine list and a delicious cosmopolitan finally!

We've been here a few times now. The food here is very good traditional french food. I particularly like the salmon in a pastry (i can't remember the exact name, but it's the only salmon dish on the menu). The service is exclellent if you get the older French lady as your server. The ambiance is nice if your downstairs,... More

We dined here last Saturday night. To say the food was great does not come close to the experience. The service was excellent, the seating, roomy, and the atmosphere charming. Get the lamb! WOW!

This well established French restaurant consistently serves very good, bistro-style food. The menu contains popular French classics in all categories: appetizers, soups, salads, main dishes and desserts. It also presents some excellent dishes rarely found in the US: calves liver, calves brain, and tripe. Preparations are competent and traditional. The wine list needs updating and more diversity. On busy nights,... More

This was a great place to take our son when visiting him in Georgetown. The food, the service and the ambiance are all wonderful. French is spoken here. Eaten, too!

Wonderful, French country atmosphere in Georgetown, DC. We have dined here for 30+ years. Always excellent, at a price that more than equals the quality.

I go to La Chaumiere every time I have to go to Washington D.C.This is an old, well established, restaurant in Georgetown. Cozy atmosphere, good service and cuisine. I had pate de campagne, sauteed calf's brains and the superb hot soufflé au Gran Marnier. I would come there if only for that great dessert.

In the heart of Georgetown, La Chaumiere is a great place to entertain customers or the place for that special dinner celebration. My selection was the Medallions of Certified Angus Beef Tenderloin that was prepared to perfection.
