The kitchen has its roots in the cooking traditions of Latin America but the menu also displays the playfulness and innovation you would expect from the home of minibar. Highlights include tuna and coconut ceviche, scallops with coconut rice and foie gras soup. Minibar by josé andrés is a six seat restaurant within Cafe Atlantico located on the second floor of Café Atlántico. The innovative tasting menu features 26-30 of José's most imaginative creations. « less

We were seated on the second floor with a great view of the open kitchen-fun. We started out with caipirinhas that were very good (I'm a Brazilian, I know). Partner had the Friday market menu, I ordered a la carte. Our appetizers, Green Fried tomatoes & conch fritters tasted like State Fair food - one dimensional, disappointing. Things improved a... more

I was hoping this would be good since I've not been and had to make the restaurant recommendation for a small group. Seated instantly, nice service and I had the best foie gras ever. It was one of three appetizers that we all shared. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered another as my main dish - it was... more

If you can't get to Spain and el Bulli and you want to try "molecular cuisine," this is the place to try it. You have to book exactly a month ahead at 10 a.m. or you won't get one of the 12 seats (two seatings of six nightly), but it's worth the effort. You sit at a sushi-type bar and... more

This is one of the reasons I love tripadvisor. I read the reviews of the top rated restaurants in DC and decided to give Cafe Atlantico a try. My wife and I have had the good fortune to eat at some pretty nice and highly recommended establishments. This one is at least as good if not better than those stored... more

We have started a tradition of going to chef's tables in the kitchen for my husband's birthday. We tried the previous year to get a reservation a month ahead at minibar and it was already filled, but were lucky enough to get a reservation this year and had an amazing experience. Everything was outstanding. It is like they are mad... more

The steak was excellent, but the Striped Bass Veracruz was "deconstructed" -- ingredients cooked individually. It didn't remotely resemble Vercruzana, and flat didn't work. Entrees were also expensive, especially for you to assume the risk of a cutting-edge artistic interpretation. I don't regret going (the steak was that good), but also won't return. more
