Whether for lunch or dinner, I have rarely been disappointed by the Oval Room. The portion sizes are perfect -- not too much but enough to satisfy. I recently had the salmon which was cooked perfectly "medium." The beet salad was great as well. The deserts are a bit uninspiring but that's not a problem for me as I try... More

Pretty empty on a Thursday night at 7: 30 p.m. Foi gras apetizere was done well, but portion was skimpy. Rockfish, bragged about by our watress, was inedible. Who steams fish, doesn't really cook it, and serves it with the skin on the large lumps served (as if we wouldn't believe it was fish otherwise)? Fish portions were tiny, too.... More

Ate lunch here during restaurant week- great value for $20.14, beet salad was outstanding, as was the crispy salmon. (And I had been worried it might be too crispy, but it wasn't, just the edges had the crispiness.) Key lime cheesecake parfait was out of this world. Plenty of food for a good-sized lunch, and not too much either. Service... More

A friend and I went to the Oval Room during Restaurant Week. I was eager to see the "new" Oval Room that had recently been renovated and had a new interior. What struck me even before we were seated was that the staff was very welcoming and seemed like they looked forward to serving us. Both of us had the... More

We went with some colleagues to the Oval Room during the DC restaurant week. Everyone was generally pleased with their food. I had a nice buffalo mozzarella salad and a rockfish as main. I liked both dishes, but still wondering what a 'rockfish' is specifically. It commonly refers to a range of fishes, from rockcod and greenlings to sebastes and... More

A friend suggested the restaurant, and I thought the name was awfully confident. The food was great, the wine was incredible, but the service was just astonishing. We had a beet salad that had light horseradish, and a cheese plate and vegetable plate to start. It had jalapeno dressing to start. We had veal and duck for main courses. The... More

9 of us had the opportunity to dine here a couple of weeks ago for dinner. First the service is just impeccable. The Maître d' was very funny and charismatic guy who kept us laughing all night long, we all were a perfect match for him. Now this was the weekend dinner so no big names running around inside to... The Oval Room is really great for lunches with important colleagues. It is good food served in a quiet environment. Ideal for proper DC lunches. people do not go here for office benders. This is not that type of place. I would recommend it. And the price point will not break the bank.

After lots of checking online, we chose The Oval Room for our pre-wedding party of 13 people. We cannot speak highly enough about the service, food and .... yes .... price. The restaurant allowed us to create our own prix fixe menu for each guest and had even pre-printed place cards for us. The table was elegantly set and service was... More

Don't go to this place if you are hungry! The portions are why comedians make fun of "fancy" restaurants. It was comical when the plates were brought to the table. After when finished there and paid a $150 tab, we had to stop at one of the local food trucks just to feel like we had eaten lunch. A bit... More
