Southern food kicked up a notch

So glad I finally made it to Georgia Brown's. Went for lunch and stuck with the classics...fried green tomatoes and gumbo. Both were excellent and very well prepared. Service was speedy and attentive. Would definitely return!

The southern food served here is delicious. The basket of cornbread and biscuits was a great starter. The group I was with had everything from Maryland crab cakes to BBQ to chicken livers. All delicious. The portions were reasonable, but not large. The ceiling has a unique sculpture of ribbons or noodles that gives a unique atmosphere. It was close... More

As a Louisiana native, I can be a bit of a food critic. GB's was fantastic. Great flavors and presentation. I wasn't sure about the collard greens and didn't try them--I frankly like mine sautéed. Bob provided perfect, thoughtful service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Went to dinner with business colleagues and really enjoyed it. Unusual southern dishes like butternut squash deviled eggs along with traditional gumbo and fish and meat dishes. Lively atmosphere with live music.

This place was within easy walking distance of our hotel to we went here on our first evening having arrived just a couple of hours earlier. The crab cakes were just wonderful, the sauce was really tasty and the chopped vegetables were fresh and crunchy. We followed this by the deconstructed Jambalaya - though to be honest i think we... Went to the Sunday Jazz Brunch. The jazz band was fantastic, but the restaurant was so loud and crowded, it was hard to enjoy. There were so many tables stuffed in this small venue that there was barely any place to walk. And the noise! The food was so so, nothing to write home about, and the wait staff and... More

Enjoyed a wonderful meal at Georgia Brown's on a recent DC visit. Our craving for "southern cooking" was certainly satisfied. The menu presented a number of tempting options. The fried green tomatoes were wonderful; the fried chicken livers were amazing-a delicious sweet sauce (Mambo sauce) put these over the top for our party. We enjoyed the buttermilk fried chicken and... More

We were in DC for a long weekend. We had Sunday Brunch at Georgia Brown's and it did not disappoint. The decor is cool. There was a fun band. Service was great. The selection was good without being too overwhelming. The grits I could not get enough of. Best grits I have ever had. There was a carving station, omelette... More

We ate here one evening whilst staying in Washington. It was a reasonably priced meal for the capital. Well worth a visit.
