Have read about this restaurant in food magazines since it opened 20 years ago but have not had the opportunity to partake. We were recently in DC and went for Saturday lunch and were not disappointed. The lunch menu on Saturdays & Sundays, I believe, is a "brunch" menu. I had the shrimp stuffed with crab (with mac & cheese!)... More

If you are from the UK, you might want to talk to the waiter before deciding how many meals to order! Fortunately, we did this and decided to go with a starter to share, then one main course between us. The starter of fish fingers was delicious, and we ordered 'grits' to go with our main course as we didn't... More

We came in during the Happy Hour and were the folks at the bar ever happy! They were also friendly and helpful, and made sure my husband and I got drinks (which were quite pricy for a happy hour). Once we were seated, food was excellent--I had fried chicken livers for the first time in years--even though it was an... More

We had an very good dinner here. It came recommended by local residents, and didn't disappoint. The dark and stormies and pomegranate lemonade cocktails were both excellent, and the portions were generous; handed Mason jars for serving were fun. Table bread was biscuits and a sort of elongated cornbread hushpuppy (but why did it have sugar in it?). She-crab soup... More

Great service, yummy food and unique! The walk over through the adjacent park was a little scary (lots of transient people there) but otherwise loved it!

We enjoyed a nice Sunday evening with another couple. It wasn't crowded, so there wasn't a wait. The waiter provided excellent service and everyone enjoyed their dinner. I would definitely return in the future.

The food was great! Our table ordered favorites like Fried Chicken, Pork Chops & Catfish. Everything was cooked to perfection. The waitstaff was attentive and beyond pleasant, however, the hostess was another matter entirely, she never looked up and gave us the worst table in the place. I guess we didn't "fit" into the regular clientele of this establishment.

Don't miss this place on your trip to D.C! It's by far the best southern food I have ever eaten in my life. Everything everyone ate in our family of 5 was five star delicious! I had the deviled shrimp, my husband the picky-eater had the fried chicken, and the appetizer of fried green tomatoes is well worth the price!... More
