Better than NY?

It was long time ago I visited S&W NY so I can't compare much but I still think the steak I ordered was better in DC. Maybe because I ordered Filet Mignon so that's always good. We came here to a VIP dinner meeting in a private room. Our group had a special menu we could order from the 3... read more

Very good early lunch at this restaurant with attentive but not overbearing staff. The usual steak house suspects on the menu but this is no ordinary steak house. The food was fantastic and my 24 ounce on the bone ribeye was probably one of the best pieces of meat I have ever eaten cooked to perfection. My apologies to Deseo... More

Went to a wedding reception on Saturday night held in the City View room. Couldn't have been better. Staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating. Food (I had the crab cakes) was about the best I have had (not fried, baked and many pieces of large lump crab, not filler). It was wonderful.

My husband and I tried the 24oz, bone-in rib rye steaks. He had a medium cajun steak, I had the well done signature steak. We also ordered fries for our daughter. They do not have a kids menu and she did not like the steak at all. We both agreed that we've had better. My steak didn't have much flavor.... More

Any time I am in Washington I make it a point to dine here. The pea soup is like Mom used to make. Creamed spinach is just perfect. We had their signature rib eye steak which was done to perfection. Try the coconut cake made with fresh coconut. Really quite good. Service is the best. Drinks are quite good as... More

We had a business lunch at Smith & Wollensky. The steak chili, a special that day, was exceptional, with just the right amount of heat. I had the steak frites, which had a nice garlic butter flavor to them and were done exactly right. Some colleagues had the crab cakes, which were also solid. What more can you say about... More

I can understand a steakhouse with an old vibe, but S&W felt like the maintenance people went home years ago and never came back. The filet was very good though and the wine list, as usual, very complete. I don't see the value though for the prices charged; good food in old and boring environment. Even my wife, who usually... I and a client just ate at Smith & Wollensky in Washington, DC. Our waitress was Sasha from the Ukraine and she was wonderful. So was the service and the food. I had their signature steak, the bone-in ribeye, and it was done to perfection. Great flavor and free of the sauces and add-ons that so many other restaurants think... More

I must admit, I am not a fan of dry aged steaks. The tomato carpaccio with borata was Eh... The steak I had was nothing special. Just a filet and the foie gras was flavorless. The sides were serviceable. Mushrooms were slightly dry. The big chocolate cake was really sweet and HUGE. We each only had a few forkfuls and... More

I enjoyed a nice long bone ribeye steak with a wonderful wine sauce. A nice bone-In ribeye like that is hard to find, but this the place in DC to get it. The filet mignon also looked very good. Despite the generous size of the steaks, from a previous visit we looked forward to the Wollensky salad. This is a... More
