Enjoyable

An enjoyable, somewhat indulgent Friday business lunch. Place very empty (perhaps because it was a Friday). Sevice was attentive but not intrusive. Food was very good - although for the prices charged that is expected. Overall a nice way to treat yourself.

I have eaten here multiple times. Food is perfectly prepared every time. Service is very attentive but three people checking in on us is a little much. It is a business dinner so please limit the interruptions.

The owners of this place should teach their waiters to never ask the customers their "whereabouts" and more specifically their nationality. It's none of their business. Ordinary food at an extravagant price. Not worth it. At all. Ah, a glass of wine could be as high as 30 dollars. C'on!!!! Seriously?

We truly apologize for any inconvenience. Asking Guests about personal things, such as nationality, is by all means unacceptable in my business. If you would please give me a call at 240-423-0874, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Ned Mirkovic General Manager Smith & Wollensky, Washington, DC More

Although popular in the 90's this venue has shown signs of aging. It used to be "the" steakhouse for expense accounts and power lunches but competition has moved this out of the top 10 in DC. There are plenty of newer and better places to get a delicious steak in town. Although the nostalgia is there and the wait staff... More

Thank you for your feedback and Happy New Year. TRENDY vs TRADITIONAL...we are a Traditional, Premiere, American Steakhouse, specializing in highest quality food (USDA Prime, in hose dry aged beef as our staple), and we pair our food with experienced staff, some of whom have been here for many years. We take pride in both! More

During annual visits back to our old stomping ground (ah the memories of actually being able to drive down Pennsylvania Av), Smith and Wollensky is a Saturday night tradition. The steaks are aged, seasoned and prepared to perfection. We had cocktails -- they don't scrimp on the alcohold like some upsacle establishments (you could torture me and I wouldn't mention... More

We sat down to world class service, outstanding food and wonderful ambiance. Beef aged 26 days on site and cut in house, dressings made in house, phenomenal desserts, fantastic wine selection. It's a meal worth experiencing...but expect to pay for it!

Great service and good food. We went to dinner with a very large group. The exceptionally large upstairs dining area did not feel cavernous. The staff was on top of their game the entire evening. Would most definitely done here again.

Positives Superb wine list. Expensive but a bottle of E Guigal at $36 was good value. Quality ingredients. The beef is obviously well-sourced. Negatives. For me my rare sirloin was cut way too thick. The outside was overly chargrilled but the inside was raw. A thinner cut would have been better. The steaks are jaw-droppingly expensive. As good or better... More

We went there for our anniversary. The filet was great and I always love the spinach. The service was amazing. The waiter was friendly. The chocolate cake is so worth getting. It is so big that we usually split it and still bring some home for later.

After a great experience at smith&wollensky NY, serviced by a great team of passionate waiters mostly from Croatia decided to visit this place for an important family event, unfortunately everything from the service side went wrong. Kitchen part can't be blamed as the food was luckily good as expected but the service experience has destroyed our evening, charging almost $500... More
