Ben's Chilli Bowl was a must visit, so off we walked to find it. Took a while to get there, and was well worth the visit. It's a real US diner, and we both opted for a half smoked with the full chilli. Was an unusual way of having a hot dog, but I enjoyed it a lot. Would definitely... More

I visited Ben's Chilli Bowl after reading about it in the Rough Guide. The food was excellent I had a half-smoke and it was awesome. The staff are very friendly and make you feel like a regular. I will say this, there is not a healthy option but if you're visiting the USA and want to experience 'authentic' cuisine this... More

Had to go and try this famous chilli dog at Ben's in our stay in Washington. It was a bit of fun and surprisingly, the hotdogs with chilli- just like Bill Crosby eats- were really yummy. This is a place with a bit of character and cheap eats. Worth a bite if you are in town.

Ben's Chili Bowl has the whole package. They have amazing food with an amazing story. You have to try the half smoke with chili, mustard and onion.

Was directed here while participating in the DC Beerathon by DC natives who told us we had to try Ben's. Had the half smoked (Bill Cosby's favorite). Half smoked cracked when you bit into it, the chili had a nice bite to it. Loved looking at the pictures of past patrons. We sat in Presidents Obama's seat. Service was outstanding,... More

I first heard about Ben's Chili Bowl and their famous half-smoke sandwich on a Food Network show 3 years ago when I was pregnant. I immediately NEEDED to have one. Couldn't make the travel plans work to try one until this trip. It was beyond my expectations. So delicious and the service was great!

Second visit for hubby & I at this iconic location. Love my chili dogs. BUT I tried the half smoke this time. Bill Cosby is right. It' now my fave,as is hubby. Splurged on calories & got the cheese fries. Fresh and crisp, can't go wrong with the whiz! Sat at the counter this time. Service was good & friendly.

We visited Ben's Chili Bowl over a weekend and really enjoyed it. The food was tasty and the service was great. It definitely isn't the best food I've ever had, but it's a fun place to see and talk with locals. Definitely worth the trip. I suggest sitting at the bar and getting a milkshake!

I'd read about this chilli diner in several places, so gave it a crack - on my own as I was travelling solo. Had the signature chilli half smoke. It was an absolute mess, as chilli con carne went everywhere, over me, over the rest of my food... but so good. The bloke next to me liked it so much... More

Our visit to Ben's Chili Bowl was fun; we enjoyed eating great chili with DC locals. I ordered the Ben's Famous Chili Dog; the chili was tasty, a little hot, and it was served over a hot dog and fresh bun. The cole slaw side was excellent. My husband ordered a Chili Half Smoke- it was a large sausage covered... More
