Nothing special considering food or service. Should change there name to "white man not welcome" staff very rude and racist!!! Plus I've been there before years ago different president and don't remember seeing any pics of him or his family even though it was one of Bills favorite. Staff very rude asked two different staff for a refill and napkins... More

A must when visiting DC. The place was packed and had a great time looking at the memorabilia on the walls. I enjoyed the vegetarian chili and my children enjoyed the chili dogs. Easy to get to on the Metro and a great neighborhood to explore after your meal. The staff was fantastic. Will definitely return if we find ourselves... More

Went there because numerous celebrities had went there and endorsed this place. The chili has a little kicks to it and that's about it. Taste is a very personal thing of course but I think my chili is better than that. As busy as this place is the service is very disorganized. Server took their good time wondering from one... More

Came here while visiting our son in DC as it is one of his favorite places to grab a bite for lunch. The place was packed on a rainy/sleety Friday mid-day but none the less welcoming. While waiting for our food "Mrs Ben" wife of the late Ben and current owner stopped by to see how we were doing. What... More

Read the write ups, so I decided to stop. Easy to get to, hopped on the Metro Subway (I took the Red Line) to U Street Station and walked up the escalator to exit. Ben's is right across the street. From the moment I walked in the and eventually left the staff was warm and friendly. Took time to explain... More

Fun place to eat. Cool to see all the stuff on the walls or to watch drunk people stumble in at night. The fries are crappy, and maybe the food is overpriced for what it is. I have no idea what the difference between half smoke and the original was but they were both good. It's close to the metro!... More

a classic place! this satisfied my growing taste for chilli nicely, and the family were happy with their dogs. There were large lines for takeaway, however we were able to walk straight to the back room and get ourselves a table. Table service was slow to come, but very friendly once it arrived.

I was in DC on a brutal night so none of the crowds alluded to in other posts were present. I was able to roam around the restaurant and look at the posters and paraphernalia without bothering other patrons as there were few braving the DC snow and ice. That was plenty of fun and it provides a good dose... More

Yeah, great food. What was even better was the gentleman pictured above in the bottom left corner; he came over to our table to say hi, welcome to Ben’s, and asked how the meal was. Amazing, we said, worth the trip from Australia. Well, that did it; we became celebrities! He insisted on taking our photo for us, obliged most... More
