You must go and try this place at least once while you are in the DC area. Great Chilli and Franks if you can get past the long lines down U street

My wife, daughter, and I stopped in to try it, because it is a landmark. It was a quick jump off of the Metro at U St. - right across the street from the exit. It was old school and looked sincere. Ordering might be a little complicated - you should order your food at the counter, pay, then sit... More

Went here for lunch and breakfast over 2 days. Classic specialist diner food and atmosphere. Staff were great and the crowd were as mixed as the general U St area. I'd include one visit in any trip to the area.

Recently visited D.C. with my family and couldn't leave without trying this place. We went on a Saturday night around 9 PM. We took the Metro with our young boys and Ben's is right across the street from the Metro exit. There were hundreds of people on the street, mostly college kids, and we felt completely safe we our kids.... More

trust me this place is worth a visit. Staff are friendly food is fantastic and so easy to find. For us it was an easy walk through the wonderful suburbs just as we pictured. The food and service though was so much better than anticipated. Definitely a must do when in Washington. Don't forget the beer it is what one... More

Wandered in for a quick dinner after skipping out on the 'fancy' stuff nearby... great choice. Classic old diner atmosphere, very kind and hospitable staff, great hot dog and fantastic fries. Chili was not my taste (too runny), but did have a notable spiciness. Wonderful spot for culture and history.

Went to Ben's while I was visiting my daughter and touring DC. The "Bowl" is on U Street Corridor and is very easy to get to. Its just a short walk from the metro. If you're looking for a 4 or 5 star restaurant, this isn't it. But if your looking for a great quick bite, this is the place.... More

We went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant offered free 1 hour parking in the rear to its customers which was great because there was only street parking available. The line was a little long, but it was worth the wait. I was impressed that they had turkey dogs and vegetarian chili. Some items in our order... More

The experience is good since Bill Cosby and President Obama eat here from time to time and the chili is good but the service is not great on the contrary the staff is kind of impolite I wouldn't come back here
