This place is awesome. There's no place like it where I'm from (San Jose). The place is bright, and the service is quick. It's got that, "we've been here a long time and we know what we're doing" vibe. Loved the music, too. A little Michael Jackson, and a lot of more classic R&B, too. I'm told... read more

A must during a few days in DC. They have the best hot dog in town, as well as french fries with cheese. It seems to be back in the 50ies, as It is one of the few places that witnessed the riots back at Martin Luther King Jr's time. It is located in front of the U-Street Metro station,... More

Nothing too special here but fun atmosphere. Had chili dog, fries and shake. Lots of workers staffing the counter, so good service. Went on a Sunday at 2pm, no lines. Checking it off the DC tourist list of places to visit.

I visited Ben's on a cold snowy - turning - to - rainy Saturday evening. Lineup was what I expected and moving reasonably well. Food (I had the Chile con carne and a vanilla milk shake) was really good and reasonably priced. But I am not really sure what this place is so famous: I guess simply surviving is sometimes... More

I stopped by Ben's Chili Bowl and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and believe it or not they have some variety for people that do not like hotdogs or sausages. The chili was just okay to me, but the French fries were hot and plentiful. The staff is really friendly and understand they are a must see place... More

Many people will tell you that when you go to D.C., you have to go to Ben's Chili Bowl. It's fine but far from the rave reviews it has recently received. The chili was hot, spicy and filling on a cold winter's night, fries were good and dogs were good. However, there are many other places serving the same type... More

This is a classic DC establishment which has anchored U St for decades and is reminiscent of an earlier and grittier time in the city. The food is okay, but lacks flavor (especially the chili, which you can get on top of just about everything). On the other hand, I don't know anyone who goes to Ben's for the food,... More

Food is very greasy, although most people like stopping there after a late night on the town. Everyone should go there at least once.

Its popularity has grown in the past few years, but you could find similar chili dog places in town. The chili dog is good, but the fries are amazing. I recommend it if you like fast food and are looking for popular places.

Ben's thinks about all of us. It's hard to find vegetarian friendly places to eat but Ben's chili bowl serves chili cheese fries, chili burgers and chili bowls made for non meat products. Finally a place that welcomes diversity...thanks Ben.
