Our local friend treated us in this restaurant as their favourite one. Not surprised why. A real classic old fashion restaurant, classic service and lovely food. Highly recommended..

We travel to DC for a long weekend every year. So many good restaurants and some mediocre. Thus was one of the BEST. Service was excellent. Food was all good. Homemade pasta and morels, does pass them up!

I went to this restaurant for a business dinner. I did not expect such a beautiful historical setting! The food was amazing. I had Nordic salmon, branzino and sundae. The amuse bouche and the miniature desserts, though, were not so special. I could have done without. The AC was too strong. I had to wear a scarf!

New American cuisine - inventive, tasty without being served in hyper-large quantities. Dining is in a series of small rooms with 4 or 5 tables in each. Service was attentive without being fussy. BUT, it is expensive!

1789 is classic dining. This is a restaurant with excellent service and excellent food served in an atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation with your dining partner without using your stadium voice. My husband and I enjoyed everything about this classy throwback to when dining was about the whole experience.

Overall a very fine dining experience. The menu is manageable and not overwhelming. The wine list is good but not outstanding. Could definitely use some more Bordeaux offerings. We had a bottle of rose to start and then a so so bottle of red with dinner. Cannot remember the name....which may be good..but it was priced at exactly $100. Would... More

Please visit this restaurant. Divine food in a beautiful historic home. This was my second time visiting and enjoyed my dinner even more. Do make a booking as when Congress is in session it can be very busy...

We arrived late 10:00pm on Sunday night due to a late flight into Washington. We were greeted warmly and served at a pace that didn't try and rush us at all. Each of us ordered wine by the glass the selection was good and seemed to fit the meal. Both of us had the pea soup appetizer which was delicious.... More
