The food here is quite good and the service very attentive, but the prices are so exorbitant, I'm left wondering whether the value really matched the content. Old country-inn ambiance (just down the street from the infamous

Ambiance, food and service were superb. It will be an evening we will long remember. Perfect for Law School graduation. It IS pricey but worth every penny in my mind.

What a wonderful 70th! Morels with home made pasta was outstanding. Sturgeon was first smoked and then poached, one of the best seafood items I have ever had. This is a classic "old school" feel, white table cloths and wonderful service. Every part of this restaurant just feels right, service, food and wines all top shelf. You will not be... More

After eating at 1789 Restaurant when my wife and I first visited Washington DC a few years ago, I knew we had to eat there again when we returned to DC last month. As before we had an excellent meal and, if anything, the service was even better the second time. My wife had the duck breast for her main... More

We went to the restaurant based upon other tripadvisor reviews as well as the location. This establishment is part of an empire that includes many other restaurants. I believe this is their flagship. The dining room is downstairs in what looks like a converted brownstone. It is warm and cozy with a massive fireplace. We were seated immediately. They gave... More

Recently we took some friends out to dinner to celebrate a birthday. Reservation was made well in advance. When we arrived at the appointed time, a nice young lady showed us to a table on an upper floor. One of our guests was wearing a walking brace to the knee and no effort or suggestion was made for a lower... More

This is by far one of DC's finest restaurants, and I truly enjoyed spending my evening here with a wonderful date. I made a reservation at 9pm for 10 pm, however called twice to say we were going to be late. We didn't arrive until 1030, and whoever was on the phone was always very polite. My date wore a... More

Had dinner with friends last night and it could not have been better. The ambiance was charming without being stuffy, the service was impeccable and the food was stupendous. I had the best rack of lamb I have ever had. The meat was roasted as a single piece and decorated with two bones which had been cleaned and returned to... More
