The food and service in 1789 are always on a superior level. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that my meal, lamb chops, came out luke warm. It was taken away immediately, but instead of re-firing and re-plating they just stuck it in a microwave. Totally unacceptable. They did however inquire discretely if the meal... More

If you live in or are visiting Washington DC and have a special occasion, I highly recommend 1789 Restaurant. It's in Georgetown, so it can be difficult to get to, but it's worth the effort. The restaurant is divided up into small rooms, so the noise level in any one room does not get overwhelming. It has a cozy feel... More

We had not been to 1789 for a number of years (we love that there are so many places to eat or bring food home in this area). The ambiance and service were excellent as were the raspberry martinis. The lamb chops were done medium plus (after I asked what medium meant) but... the outside was not charred at all.... More

I visited with friends to celebrate one of them passing the NY Bar. The setting, the service and the food made it an extra special experience. We visited on a snowy night, and the weather meant some of us were late. Everyone at the restaurant was gracious about this, and the valet parking made it easy to get right to... More

This is one of those restaurants that is always good no matter what the occasion. It has been around for many years and not one of those here today gone tomorrow eateries. We have a lot of those in DC. I recommend it highly.

A wonderful atmosphere in George Town. A lot of history on the walls and very close to the night life, theater and and museums. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent.

We were at 1789 for DC Restaurant Week and it was packed. To its credit, the restaurant was doing a good job of coping with the high numbers. The atmosphere was great and the food and wine was delicious. We were particularly pleased that we had opted for the wine pairing menu. It really worked well. The complimentary valet parking...
