Chinatown in Washington DC is actually pretty poor. Struggled to find any Chinese restaurants let alone a decent looking one. Settled for this one as it looked reasonably cheap. Service was pretty fast although as is all too often the case not the friendliest. Food was decent. Pretty much your standard Chinese restaurant.

My wife and I were recently in DC as first stop on a two week road trip heading south. We decided to visit their China Town and someone we stopped recommended Chinatown Garden. We looked in the window and the place was fairly crowded with a reasonable # of Asian people eating there. We ended up being very satisfied with... More

We ate here based on the menu and look from the outside as we were touring DC. The service was typical of Chinese restaurants and met all expectations. The food was above average but not the best. The prices were a little high but this might be the average for the area. Overall, I would eat here again and recommend... More

I went here with a friend from central China. He talked to the waiter in Mandarin, so it is authentic. I thought it was great great and so did he.

I ate at this place 2 times, once for lunch and the next night for dinner. The food was the best I have had in a very long time. The amount of food was ample for 2 to share. Not at all expensive, service was fantastic, but the only thing I did not like was not all food at the... More

We ate here with some friends at their suggestion. In checking the reviews prior to meeting them I wondered how on earth they could have chosen this place? However, they claimed to have eaten here before and had enjoyed their meals, so maybe? We ordered dishes to share which also came with spring rolls and fried wontons. The spring rolls... More

Our party of six enjoyed our Chinatown Garden dinner. Average Chinese food but we were hungry after a long day. Plenty of good food to eat. Two of us split a dish to save money and that was ok. We loved the orange slices as an after dinner treat. They need doors on the kitchen opening as we were seated... More

Rudest waitress ever! Uninterested and no onus on customer service. Requested recommendation between two dishes but waitress rudely informed us it's not what she likes so just to choose. Furthermore, no offer of drinks, no offer of desserts and check just dumped on table after main course. Food awful, over cooked and saturated in fat. Rice cold and no choice... More

If for some perverse reason you enjoy the boring Americanized "Chinese" fare loaded with oils that was introduced more than half a century ago, Chinatown Garden will suit you. While the vegetables are reasonably fresh, don't expect flavor or excitement from any of the dishes. Its location in DC's Chinatown does not assure authenticity. China offers a wide range of... More
