Maybe I need to find a new place

It was a warm spring Sunday night around 7pm and to be fair, we didn't start out by wanting to go to Sequoia. We actually went to 3 other restaurants in that area but for various reasons, either being seated and not waited on after waiting more than 10 minutes just to be acknowledged in an almost empty restaurant or... I've been wanting to go to Sequoia for some time. So when my friends wanted to do a girls night I made us a reservation. Upon arrival I marveled at the view and that all quickly turned sour when time was not of the essence for the wait staff. The food took over 30 minutes to be delivered to our... More

Lovely spot on the water, with a view of woods, lots of crew on the river, and the Watergate Hotel. Huge windows, lots of light. I had the pan-seared salmon with cauliflower puree, which was excellent. Varied but not overwhelming wine list.

I had not been to Sequoia in a long time, and was only interested in restaurants on the water for brunch this past Sunday. There were other choices, but not having been here for several years I decided to give it a try. I had read several reviews about the poor service but decided to ignore them. Sunday brunch is... We went with 12 people and we all loved it. Great views, great food and service. Drinks are pricey but you should expect that for the location.

Arrived an hour before our reservation - hostess was very pleasant and had no problem seating us early. Our meal was delicious - try the guacamole with lobster appetizer and definitely leave room for dessert (can't remember name but comes with 3 dipping sauces). If you're lucky, you will get Gustavo for your waiter. Watching him pour your wine is... More

Excellent view but that's where it stops. Although the staff is attentive the kitchen fails to deliver. I had the pork chop it was over done and dry. My wife had the salmon and suggested it was very mediocre. Great place for a drink on a summer day out on the patio.

Enjoyed the high ceilings and view of the water from the grand dining room. A nice place to eat and feel special among twinkling lights.

I had visitors from out of town and we ate at several special locations in DC.. I hadn't been here in years but was empressed with not only the view but the ambience I was so disappointed. The view was nice but as the main room was being used for a wedding we were in an adjacent room where the... More
